Anyone know of its possible to go down to 195 from 205 on the Type R standard 17" alloys?

Definitely don't do this.

The wheels are vulnerable enough as it is, and the ride will be even crashier.

I went the other way and fitted 215/45s, and they made the car an awful lot more bearable on bumpy roads. Slight increase in circumference, but not enough to make any real difference. I can't remember curbing my wheels since having wider tyres. Most people changing tyre aspect on the CTR seem togo for 215/40s though, despite the fact that 215/45s are a closer match to 205/45. You could argue that the 215/45s reduce acceleration, but it really is imperceptible.

Fact remains that a 45 profile on a car with 60s with no change in width is silly.

Indeed, that's 10% out

Think I read somewhere that anywhere up to 3% is deemed an acceptable change.

Insurers won't like it though, any cop out they can use in an incident, they will!
