originally iv always wanted to get the 780 lightning but every time its mentioned in the threads everyone says stay away from them... its really one of the only cards i like.....are they really that bad?

i got caught on one of the 770 lightning's had it about a month and it dropped 100 euro...like so many other's got caught i guess! don't really want the same thing happen again......

not gaming until i sort some new card or cards out!

All depends what you wish to spend , personally yes if you want sli i'd wait and get EVGA 780/ti Classifieds 6GB but be prepared for the full dx12 you may have to upgrade Other than what may or may not be in DX12 dual 6gb classy's would be a viable option for a few years before you Had to upgrade imo

if you want to upgrade i would go for the r9 290 if has handled everything i have thrown at it and my dad has thrown in nearly 200 hours on BF4 and it hasnt faulted yet it is a great card including with mantle

I'm on the fence myself atm. I have a EVGA 780 SC. Would like to go SLI again. I'm sort looking for 1 super powerful gpu. Don't know it that will happen though? Was waiting for 790 info?

i guess there's a fair few looking to either upgrade or purchase something new...amd are out of the picture for me anyways...as iv got a 3d monitor....nvidia card only.

i guess a couple of more weeks wont kill me...if there is in fact new gpu's on the ready!

just to let you know AMD also have 3d support as well i have tested this on my 40" 3d tv and it is great, you dont need any special equipment like £D vision to get it to work neither the quality is great also you have the true sound tech for the new games coming out.

You also have to think AMD is now supporting a lot of the new games with Mantle you already have Thief and BF4 with Mantle support and there is already a list for games in the future the game plays shows up to a 25% increase in BF4 and up to a whopping 45% in Thief.

Yes Nvidia have there pluses but you are paying the extra for the same performance as AMD the R9 290 and R9 290x Are great cards for there money and i would consider looking at them and comparing them to Nvidias top card at the min.

Amd dont support 3d vision 2 do they?

ah yeah....taught for a minute amd started to support vision 2 :)...i already have the monitor and emitter/glasses.....

thanks though but it will only be nvidia cards.... just which ones!

Just purchase a couple of Titan Zeeeeeees', simples.

I think the problem with the original 780 Lightning was the memory (MSI used cheaper Elpida) which limited the memory overclock. They were binned though and would still give great performance. The problem with the recent Lightnings is that they are no longer binned.

Personally I would get a couple of 780 classys and enjoy trouble free gaming. I am not anti AMD by any means but since I reswitched back to Nvidia this time I have been nothing but impressed. Everyone tries to justify their purchases but for me this 780 has been a fantastic card
