Is it time to sack Wenger?

interesting if true

Apparently this is what we're spending on wages from arsenalmania, Bendtner and Denilson not included.

Find Fabianski, Mannone, Jenkinson, Squillaci, Djourou, Coquelin and Park hard to believe to be true.

Removing Almunia, Fabianski, Squillaci , Djourou, Benayoun, Arshavin, Rosicky, Diaby, Chamakh, Walcott and Park we would save £33,280,000 per year.

Who could we pay with that kind of money Tevez, Yaya Toure, Rooney etc.

All that list shows me is that Arsenal pay big wages to youngsters that wouldn't be on that kind of money anywhere else.

Question for the Arsenal supporters, assuming you drop out of the CL spots do you think you could attract 'big name signings', or will it be more of the same?

the ones that concern me are the likes of gibbs, Squillaci and Djourou, but how the hell does wenger justify walcott on 70k ?

there are others overpaid, but mainly due to the length of the contracts not much you could do about that, in a similar situation to man city (to a lesser degree obviously), but who's going to pay the likes of arshavin/rosicky/diaby that sort of money ?

I've been saying for YEARS now that we pay less to higher up payers but we've been overpaying what would be "youth" players compared to any other team.

Other teams are catching up but only those on a vastly different pay structure anyway. IE Welbeck might be looking for a circa 50k a week wage but considering their top player is on 200k+ a week and ours is around 100k a week, well, its a bit daft anyway as Welbeck isn't worth that either.

What's been killing us for years, and what Wenger's "policy" is, is getting youths and offering them more money than ANY other club is willing, if people wonder why players join Arsenal, its money.

We have spent craploads, we have easily spent more than enough to be in the top four, there has been no overachieving in the past 7 years, just underachieving.

We've kept hold of certain players by giving them contracts, sure we're not keeping hold of Nasri by giving him 150k, but we're keeping hold of Walcott by offering him more than any other bone headed club was willing to offer him, and the same goes for many of our other players.

Not sure all the wages are bang on though, but that is generally what I expected throughout the squad.

Chamakh/Mertesacker are both afaik on around 80k a week, Chamakh because he was a free transfer and Mertesacker, older, experience and Arsenal were desperate I would think they would both be on more.

I've said for a long time about many clubs, people look at transfer money available and spending as if a club is spending heavily or not but its just daft. There was a huge reason Utd spent big this summer rather than last, almost entirely down to overall wage spending with quite a few players retiring/leaving, though one of them had to come back :p

The money we waste on players who will never make a telling contribution at Arsenal is laughable, Gibbs, Djourou, Diaby are injury prone and also simply not good footballers. Would you pay Messi 150k a week even if he could only play 1/4 of the season, maybe.. I wouldn't pay Gibbs/Djourou/Diaby £30k even if they could play 50 games a year.

Djourou/Diaby ARE crap, always will be, Gibb's I may be being harsh over, he's training with an incompentant manager/coach who can't do a thing about our defence. Sagna looked much better when he joined and these days is almost never in position...... ever.

I'd be interested to see(if we fire Wenger, and the medical staff) if he could potentially get over injury problems and how he would do under a team that taught him some positional play. None of that changes the fact that Gibbs, with this level of injury proneness, having contributed next to nothing to the first team, and not being particularly good in his few games, shouldn't be on anywhere near 40k a week, I mean, he should have been o 10k a week max and had we needed to offer a better contract to keep hold of him, you're talking maybe 20k a week, even then I think that would be risky.

All these 1 mil here, 1 mil there adds up.

Our actual wage bill is way up over 110mil though, and that is just dozens of youth/reserve players on also vastly inflated salaries, small salarys but still too high. I'll again point out Randall, we finally got rid of him about 5-6 years after his one single first team appearance, he looked crap then, crap after, I wouldn't be surprised if he was on circa 20k a week for 3-4 years, and was never going to be part of the team. There were a dozen more like him, sucking out 10-20mil extra a year.
I'm all for a youth team, but when the players suck, get rid, something Wenger is entirely incapable of doing.

i think thats down to his policy on youth players, pays em extra to keep them etc, but even saying that 20k to jenkinson when hes come from 2 leagues lower down with charlton just seems unrealistic.

bit weird that he/the club doesnt consider doing the same to the more experienced players

If RVP starts earning £150 000/week, the other bigger stars are going to want an increase in wages, too.

if they have the same impact as rvp i'm sure that would be worked on by the board.

problem is most of them don't seem to realise its done on performance, more a case of "well he's got more so i want more" when they arn't as useful to the team as rvp.

once you start paying stupid wages to players that arn't worth it then you dig yourself a hole cos you'll have major problems getting rid of them.

in the current situation with arsenal, the problem is that the likes of aoc arn't at the stage to be able to replace arshavin/rosciky for the whole season as a major part of the team due to the demands of a season, compared to what there used to.
