Appreciate this is a necro but as of now surely he's finished internationally, obviously perfect timing to bow out after winning the WC.
His performances have shown he's still a top, top player so will probably play a couple more easy seasons at PSG before going to China or somewhere mad to earn £100 million a week.
Personally I think he's the best player to have ever played and without being juiced to the gills.

Definitely Messi > Ronaldo for me now. Not that I think the World Cup should really be all that critical, but it's the greatest prize in the sport.
Messi is operating at the very highest level and Ronaldo has fallen off a cliff and embarrassed himself one too many times.
Not that Ronaldo's career achievements should be diminished, he used to be right up there with Messi.
If I think back over the last 15 years, the wow moments have often been watching Messi in the Champions League, when he used to just destroy teams with ease. It's like Federer v Djokovic, natural elegance vs athletic power (as fez said in the Messi v Ronaldo thread, which I've hesitated to bump
).
He's as good a playmaker as you'll see, and rarely makes the wrong decision.
