Is RTS still a thing?

I'd Act of Aggression is the closest recently released RTS to C&C. Although it seems to have gone rather unnoticed, which is surprised as it's made by the same people who did the Wargame series.

Mega-lo-mania was an epic game. Still own it in my megadrive collection. ** No links to grey area software - Thanks, Armageus ***
Lets not forget Age of empires 2 HD on steam is often very cheap and still plays so well.
There is also Settlers 2 anniversary edition which is on GoG and brilliant.
If you miss red alert then try OpenRA. Quite a good effort on bringing the game to current machines.

Always wanted to try that but put off by user reviews it doesn't read well plus I fear user base is gone now

Still play COH 1 ten years after release. Just won 7 games in a row 1 v 1 on multiplayer! COH has fantastic mechanics. I think it is far superior to COH 2.

Funnily enough Supreme Commander 2 is also inferior to the original.

New RTS games are still being made. Dawn of War 3 is due out any week now! Check out the trailer on YouTube.

Some other notable mentions. 1) Homeworld 2) Total War series 3) Battlefleet Gothic Armada (came out 2016.

Rise of nations is good but old now, nothing more satisfying than out evolving the enemy, and rolling a bunch of tanks into a base that's still in the medieval age :)

The oldies are still by far the best. Homeworld, Supreme Commander, TA, classic C&C, etc.

Most of the new ones are very simplified and small scale :/

Probably Company of Heroes (1 not 2) as the most "modern" RTS for me but I do miss playing around with Skirmish mode in Red Alert 2, need to try and get it working on my Windows 10 PC as I'm sure it was a pain doing it before.

One of my fondest gaming memories is having a 6hr skirmish in the first C&C, because I didn't have the HDD space to save the game :D

Not found anything that's as good yet, having some fun with OpenRA though.

Yep, enjoying Halo Wars 2.

And can play at 4K from my sofa with a gamepad - Unprecedented.
Sounds like a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the first one. It is annoying that MS do not release all their games on steam on release. I will be waiting until they do, or when it becomes available via other means.
