Always wanted to try that but put off by user reviews it doesn't read well plus I fear user base is gone nowI'd Act of Aggression is the closest recently released RTS to C&C. Although it seems to have gone rather unnoticed, which is surprised as it's made by the same people who did the Wargame series.

There are/were mods that sorted that out last time I played it (many years ago). SC2 is all about mods. If you don't want to use them don't bother with it.
Not found anything that's as good yet, having some fun with OpenRA though.
Sounds like a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the first one. It is annoying that MS do not release all their games on steam on release. I will be waiting until they do, or when it becomes available via other means.Yep, enjoying Halo Wars 2.
