Yeah that's what stinks about it, absolute wrongun but both he and United are going to benefit financially from it.

I don't think Man Utd are benefiting financially. They are cutting their losses. I've seen suggestions that Greenwood was valued at around £100m before the scandal. They will get a fraction of that, if they get anything.
Saying United will benefit financially is insane. We've lost a 100m asset that we've been training since he was 7, then we've paid him in full for the best part of 18 months with no use of him.
Let's wait and see how much he actually goes for before making these claims. Unless the fee is very high we're absolutely not going to be profiting from the whole saga. They benefit because with the Saudi clubs now in the mix, the money involved is more than what you could've got a few years ago in the same situation.
It's about the only place he can go and be accepted without taking a massive pay cut.
He's no longer a 100 million asset and you're lucky to get anything for him at all considering what he did.

75kAny amount of money back for him is a win given his current situation and value. Even if it's a loan deal with them offering to pay 100% of his wages, that frees up 200k a week or whatever he's on.

And yes of course we want to get rid of him, I think we'd be happy with mutually terminating his contract without a payoff personally but if a club is happy to pay for him then why shouldn't we take it?
If anyone pays for Greenwood, United would almost certainly have to donate it to a charity somehow or they would start up another **** storm.
If they donate his fee to say a womens abuse charity that sort of goes against his statement of "I did not do the things I was accused of".
The fact he is leaving the club is an admission that he has done something really bad. To profit from that would not look good.
Did any of those clubs actually want him or was it just agent/twitter chatter? Seems to me Al Ahli were the only club to come in and meet his release clause..Looks like Roberto Mancini is off to Saudi too but more surprising is the news that Gabri Veiga is heading to Saudi. Many of the big European teams have looked at him this summer, City, Utd, Liverpool, Bayern, Napoli etc and in the end he's picking to go to Saudi. If a young upcoming , much wanted, player like him is opting for Saudi (presumably for the cash) rather than a big European team, thats a different situation compared to the end of their career players.
Napoli bid 26m for him I believe, how serious other teams were we may or may not ever know, but if I was a 21 year old upcoming player given the choice of playing in a European league or playing in the Saudi league, I know which one I would pickDid any of those clubs actually want him or was it just agent/twitter chatter? the source of that rumor came from an outlet called COPE - how aptEdit : Liverpool allegedly bid 21m earlier in the summer
