This is not as simple as the 9 mile "commute" (I actually lol'd). She is female and there is clearly a much larger issue that she is hiding from you using this as a front.

Just as a point of fact. You never get used to travel time. You do however rapidly get used to living in a "nice house". If you want to be happy you're better off getting a smaller, less nice, place closer to where you work than somewhere further away with a commute.

I used to live 12 miles from work, you could get there on a push bike in under an hour if the weather was good. 9 miles is nothing!
