IS the AMD 9000 Series worth it

yes its worth it if you want those extra frames, and not worth it if you dont really care. Its a personal choice everyone has to make for themself

That’s the issue - extra frames - debatable if there are any and you’d expect at least 10% + and not 3% that’s been put out there on the articles benching them. So if you are saying 3% is what it is then fine. To me it might be that Intel new cpu might offer that and AMD have stalled

I'm actually looking at these, pretty good deal for £250.

I did have to check my sanity when looking at the TPU review.... 720P 90% 5800X vs 100% 12900K???? and this with 6000 DDR5. But then i remembered their bar chart machine seems to have gotten stuck somewhere around 20219 and they still haven't noticed.

I'm looking to swap my 7900X for a 9000X3D CPU, not sure if it will be a 9800X3D or a 9900X3D. Will wait for both to be out, before choosing. I only use my PC for gaming and I have a use for my for 7900X, which will be used for my daughters PC upgrade.

Very rarely is it worth upgrading the consecutive gen.
So for 7000 users its not worth it
If gaming is your thing, get 7800X3d or wait for 9000X3D.

For everyone else, 9000 is a good gen without major drawbacks. So it IS worth it

I agree with this, general rule of thumb is skip one generation, if you're on Ryzen 5000 Ryzen 9000 is worth it.

Depends what you intend on doing. 7700X to a 9900X is quite a huge jump in performance for example. So is a 7900 to a 9950X.

My 7800x3d and 7900xtx hit my 1440p@144hz (monitor cap) for the majority of games, worse game I play is about 100fps. There is no reason even if it's double the performance for me to upgrade to the 9000x3d series.

I’m in the same boat in terms of the monitor but at 4k 144hz. You would see more benefit upgrading your monitor.

What GPU you using?

In the same circles as Hifi "chasing the dragon".

If you're already get 100fps+ at high settings, native etc, does it really matter if you get another 30fps?

Even with my old PC I get 90fps in Doom eternal high 1440p, so I wonder just what affordable but modern systems get.

Same , I'm with the thinking highest/ hight settings, single player as long it's above 60 FPS and multiplayer 100fps + I'm happy with

Sorry I somehow missed that.

Seems like you are gold if you are happy with your monitor.

Those 240hz 4K OLED sure do look tempting to me. That can be my excuse for the CPU upgrade.
I'm looking at oled 4k at some point, but feel like it'll involve another pricey GPU upgrade.
