Is the devil evil?

I say that because he is accountable for punishing evil doing people whatever he does is for good.

Or on the other hand you could look at the devil as an instrument of extraordinary rendition for god, do wrong in god's eyes, the devil takes you.

You could also say he controls those who do evil, that would not seem good business for him though, if he controls someone to do evil why would he punish them in hell.

If god and the devil are such enemies why do those who support god strongly say that those who do not will be punished in hell. You would think logically the devil would say "you displeased god, we are friends with a common goal".

AS i understand it god is all that is good and holy and the devil is all that is bad and unholy.

Couldn't give a rats ass what the rest of you think tbh as the subject matter is mostly irrelevant to people other than tv/film producers and morons.

I thought God was the jail keeper? He threw the Devil and various men in Hell for being sinful and he's keeping them locked, although the Devil somehow exerts influence on living people because God wouldn't be God if he didn't contradict himself every second.

God is all-knowing, so if the devil tests man's faith, it's by Gods design.

I'm thinking of starting a new thread ' was Mr. Blobby a real person or just some bloke in a rubber suit'

Well we humans tend to associate things with having opposites otherwise our minds can't comprehend the logic. Positive/Negative, Rich/Poor, Fast/Slow, Good/Evil, etc. Can't have the good guy without the bad guy.

So yeah, that's pretty much it.

The thing is though, where is the good guy? if anything God would be a prime example of neutrality.

I think the Devil is just misunderstood and misrepresented.

I also find it ironic that the world is forever being told to avoid sin or face the Devil, but the amount of atrocities committed in God's name are countless.

I know of no wars fought using the Devil as an excuse! :p

Perhaps Lucifer disguised himself as God, and cast the real God into hell?

Perhaps for centuries people have followed a real Devil, and the real God has been trapped helpless in Hell?

As with all things I guess definitions and context depend on which side of the line you are on :)

Well that depends on your own definition and the funny thing about it because it's basically just an opinion which is the premise for it in the first place. Maybe Batman is the good guy?

Someone can't just write a list of rules based on their own opinion of good and bad and say you should all... oh wait, never mind.

Well considering when I was growing up I was told that if I listened to The Rolling Stones, Hendrix and Led Zeppelin then I would be going to the devil (when I died) then I think he can't be evil and must actually be really good fun.

But back in 1972 my Vicar actually played Black Sabbath songs from the Masters Of Reality album and read out lyrics from it.
He was lyrically impressed with Lord Of This World, Children Of The Grave and Into the Void.
In the Vicargae he could be heard blasting out Zeppelin & Purple a lot.
