Is the devil evil?

If I started a thread called "Is Voldermort Evil?", wouldn't it be moved to 'Music, Box Office, TV & Books'?

Just checking the policy on discussing fictional characters.

I suggest you go here and ask, http://christianity.stackexchange.com

You can only truly answer that with Biblical teaching which I doubt 99% of people in here have, also you will not get an exact answer as the Bible is not a book of FAQ's rather it's interpretation based.

I really couldn't answer your question as I am not qualified, I do distinguish between 'evil acts', or 'a spirit of evil' however, whether the devil or any human being can be classed as purely evil however I don't think I believe so, but then it's for the Bible/God to teach you.

It's all a load of balls I know but reading some of the stuff about the devil is really interesting. I used to be obsessed by all this business (I was into black metal so comes with the territory I guess :p ). Lucifer being an angel who rebelled against god partly because he refused to acknowlege humans as at least equal to him/angels, so he was cast out. His number being 666, or 616. His other names such as Old Nick or The Morning Star. Fascinating stuff. All very Game of Thrones lore really :D

i always found it a bit odd that the devil is the bad guy - he barely does anything in the bible.
God on the other hand seems happy to commit genocide and kill entire populations for their perceived 'sins'.

luckily, none of it is real.

But this is the reason why my Vicar (back in 1972) used to read out Black Sabbath's Lord Of This World lyric to the congregation.
Satan is the Lord Of This World and God is Lord Of Heaven so it is Satan that commits all the death down here and God just wants you to pray to him so that when you die you will be allowed into Heaven.

(and then Dimple wakes up)

Death toll, as per the bible.......

Isn't it what the Bible teaches that Satan has dominion over the Earth, didn't he try to tempt Jesus with Earthly power, or was that more of a "We'll split the loot" kind of offer?
