Is the MX5 the new Mondeo?

Well after the roof had been slashed, the leaking began that winter, and my dad (getting older) decided he wanted to get rid and have a more practical car for his commutes and travelling to meetings (which could be up to 600mile trips on motorways) so not the best in an mx5.

So we got a pug 307 1.6D after -_-

-_- indeed. Still, I'm early 20's and even I can see that driving on the motorway in mine is not the same as when I was 18 and first had one. When I upgrade my car it will be a long while until I have something as raw and purely fun based because I doubt I'll do it until I have a second car.

The MX5 is not "The New Mondeo" it merely fits the requirements of many who are after RWD & fun roof-down handling.

I doubt many MX5 recommendations will be forthcoming in a "Spec me a family car" thread.

hurfdurf, change the record mate, I think the one thing you guarantee with your campaign is that you won't ever be a mod.

I reckon he is doing a pretty good job so far!

they look so much better when they are hard.

Sorry, just made me laugh. :D

Forum needs a dedicated take the rip out Relentless thread :D

As a competitor to the MX5, what about the Barchetta? Sure its fwd but they're not bad cars, handle rather well and seem to be available pretty cheap?

Plus the ultimate one, overtaking a bus if you aint got someone with you to tell you its clear.

I've thought about that, and if i end up with one i'm going to install a tiny cam in the wingmirror and send the signal to the dash nav display.

The rest of the hangups don't bother me, it's overtaking tractors..... on my way to work which would be the issue.

There's a very nice J-plate supercharged MX-5 for sale nearby that's in excellent condition and looks to be painted in that lovely M3 Laguna Seca blue. See it at the roadside every day and it seems to be a ready-made track toy. Can't quite make out the price but I think it's up for £1,750.

I'm resisting temptation to go have a serious look at it as my ST220 only gets off the drive a couple of times per week.

ST220+MX5=???

I do like MX5s.

However, I went for a Triumph Spitfire instead because the insurance and tax were much cheaper.

When it comes to replacing my Corsa though, I have no idea what I will go for. Could well be a Mondeo!

Kind regards
