Is the MX5 the new Mondeo?

A Don et all of the OCUK forum 'Staff' members should set an example to the community as a whole, therfore coming back with the comment that he's trolling you and that didn't work is counterproductive.

Lead by example as in not trying to get the last word in, if what he's said is against the forum rules then deal with it as appropriate, don't try and post loaded comments and jibes.

No trolling attempted. Just saying it as I see it...if you've taken anything on board (which it seems you have as I'm not suspended and the posts still remain) then my work is done. :)

Just seemed very trolling/provoking, almost like everyone wanted a reaction.

He hasn't broken any rules so why would I suspend him.

Not happy with his comments but what do you want me to do? Get involved in a forum slanging match? Nah I have better things to do.

If thats what you think of me then fair enough.

I'm embarrassed by this thread & I'm not even involved, How about getting back on Topic.

Can I ask which is the Best MX5 as there seems to be so many different versions/Editions etc.

Then you're an odd one, threads go like this all the time on OcUK in case you'd no noticed.

Define best. Entirely depends on what you're after. The Mk1 is old and has many merits, the mk2 is newer but retains many of the old merits, mk 2.5 loses them a bit but remains good and the mk3 is modern, whilst trying to keep the old ideals it isn't the same really....this is how I understand it from what others have said. :)

How small are MX5's inside?
At 6ft 3 I kinda dismissed them as I thought they would be absolutely tiny inside.

Some tall people can't fit, some can, only way to find out is get in one really. :p

Only 3 generations, with a few facelifts (2001 with the second gen for example) ;) Personally I prefer the first gen, and not just on looks.

Engine wise/gearbox wise per generation I'd like an answer for! :p

I am 6ft, somewhere around a 36" waist and a 44-46" chest and I fit into mine just fine. Seat isn't all the way back and I have the slightly taller mk2.5 seats in there. With the standard mk2 leather seats there was loads of room - the mk2.5 seats have a fair bit more padding so that makes things a bit tighter but I am still a decent fit in there.

It does depend on how long your legs are etc too, but unless you are very tall when seated you should be fine. If you aren't, you can always fit a Lotus Elise seat, which sits a good 4-5" lower in the car :)

I am just under 6ft, wear 30" short jeans, and have the seat all the way back in an MK1, although I have a very relaxed driving position.
