is the pc gaming world profitable?

No. It is not. That is why no games are made for PC anymore. I am totally not playing Mass Effect 3, Dishonored and XCOM on my PC now.

Piracy is stronger on consoles then PC. Every single game is available to download on consoles up to a week before release. But we only hear about PC piracy, crazy.

1500 downloads of Halo 4 from nzbmatrix in only a few hours is a pretty good indicator that console piracy is rampant. There is nothing to suggest PC piracy is worse, unless you believe everything Ubi****e say.

Piracy is not stronger on consoles, ~800k Downloads of Crysis 2 on consoles, some 5million on PC? Now obviously, not all of those 5 million are a lost sale by any means but I still cannot see how any rational person can argue piracy is more of an issue on consoles than it is on PC.

This is plainly untrue.

I would not consider myself thick but I don't know, without getting somebody else to do it, how to play a pirated game on a console. On a PC is is child's play.

Console gamers tend to be more casual and, with an open and fair used market, can sell their games on and buy second hand. there is less need and more hassle to pirate on console.

a lot of console users will buy there pirated game from a friend or someone they know so you cant simply count downloads = amount of times it was pirated.

pc users on the other hand are probably experienced enough to download and burn a game themselfs so the figures on torrents should be more accurate.

anyway its still true that console games are often available on torrent sites 1-2weeks + where as pc games usually arent available on torrent sites until a few days or even a week after the game has been out

There is no way of really accurately judging what gets pirated more.

I know loads of people who have modded 360s to play games, but I only know one other person who even plays pc games - and he buys them, swings and roundabouts.

The downloads arguement is poor also, one person who downloads a game would distribute that back up to many people who he'd sell the game to.

PC is still probably higher but no way of really accurately knowing.

No its not, majority are less likely to mod and tinker there expensive consoles with the worry of buggering it or getting banned. PC game piracy is simple, download and play.

If developers solely release games for PC which offers little multiplayer then expect losses, look at the statistics on Crysis PC downloads. PC gaming isn't dead, far from it and I genuinely think the OP is trolling or lives under a rock.
