Is this a bad way to choose music?

I just wandered into HMV and bought an album becuase the cover was kinda cute and appealed to me. Is there a better way to discover new artists in this day and age?

When I was a young man in the early 70's this is how I discovered loads of new bands by buying their first albums just for the cover eg KISS, Aerosmith, Budgie, Judas Priest, Queen and countless more. Mind you in those days album covers were work of arts and not just a 5" square piece of card. Most 60/70's teenagers would go through the ritual of carefully taking the record out, placing it on the deck and sitting down with the album cover and hopefully there would be lyrics also.

Oh dear God I've done it again :D

Two new albums today, one which you already know about and another which I bought after hearing just one track in HMV! The guy on the till did say it was his album of the year so far so thats mildly reassuring :)

You know one already but the other is a cunning mix of track titles by Morrissey and a badly spelt Canadian city ;)

That is exceptionally criptic :D

In Keeping Secrets is easily the best Coheed album, don't care what anyone says about the other albums :p

If you mean the album, I have it on now and I'm loving it, the album style is very similar to the single 'do you realise' very electronic but smooth with landscapey background sounds.

I would say its pop at its best, a very sweet vocal, catchy tunes but with a touch of meloncholy too.

Sic might want to give an alternate view point

I'm not too sure about At War With The Mystics. Haven't listened to it a great deal, but it doesn't sound anything as good as The Soft Bulletin or Yoshimi.
