Is this spec ok?

*bump* I'm on plugging all these little things in. The manual isn't very helpful.

I'm just seeing what things fit where and putting them in.

Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks.

these?

The motherboards manual will have a page on where they go, which pins are used for each connector.

if when you come to turn the pc on and you find the Power light and the harddrive activity light dont come on, just turn them around 180degrees to reverse the polarity.

Yes, do these go in the corresponding heads that I have and then into the motherboard?

Ah,!!!!!!!!!!

is there a little block to plug them into, then plug this block into the motherboard? some manufacturers have this feature to make it a hell of a lot easier than fiddling around trying to insert these things individually into the motherboard.

[EDIT] Ok, I've got most of them put away in place. There's just one spare 'USB' with no home. There was only one JUSB1 slot for the first USB, the other one was for the USB 3.0 slots. I'm not sure where it's meant to go on the motherboard. Can it just go to an available slot that it fits in?

I'm going to sleep now and will continue in the morning.

My plan is to refit in the GPU and the USB 3.0, do some cable management and then try it.

There are a few left over cables but is it Ok to have some spare?

Also, I'm not sure what to do with the V Check cables. Are they necessary?
Thanks,
Matt Wilde

*bump* Sorry, I needed to bump this.

There's one thing I can't find. The 8-pin Power Connector. The only thing that comes close is a cable with two 4-pin connectors side by side. However, the plastic lock mechanism is too big for the socket so I assume this cannot be used.

Thanks.

[EDIT] There was a cover over 4 of the pins so does this mean that a 4 pin socket can go in there? Is this recommended?

[EDIT] I don't want to keep bumping so I'll just edit this. It's all gone bit wrong.

I had set everything up and all I had left was to put the GPU in.

I tried moving all the wires to get it in, however, a few of the LED switches came out. There's no way they can stay in as the GPU is too big. The hard drive SATA data cable got completely ruined and won't slot in at all (the pins are sticking out in every direction). I do have a spare HDD though. I seriously need some help please.

Thanks,
Matt Wilde

They should fit, which bit is too big? the socket on the motherboard or the connectors from the PSU? a good firm push?

the harddrive is a good choice.

Ah, I don't have a camera.

There are 2 sets of 4 pins. Each one contains a plastic lock clip that holds it into place. Looking at the slot, it is not long enough to support the long plastic clip.

Should I try and boot it up even though the other 4 pin won't come on and the SATA data socket on the HDD has been destroyed?

Missed the edit a few posts up about the HDD sata cable.

is it the cable connectors that are destroyed? or the actual connector on the HDD.

How the plastic clips on the psu socket are not long enough to clip over the lip on the side of the socket i dont know? unless you havent inserted them fully for the clips to reach.

I think it is the connector on the HDD that is broken. The pins are not straight anymore. I do have a backup.

[EDIT] I've got the 8 pin connector working. It's just this hard drive thing now.

Could I just power it up to see if it works without a hard drive before I get the other one?

Also, a few of the LED cables couldn't go in as the GPU takes up too much space.

Is this Ok?

Thanks.

Unless you can somehow carefully fix the HDD pins, then it sounds like its been butchered.

This 8pin connector, does it fit anyway? even if the lock clip isnt grabbing the lip on the side of the socket, I dont know why its not working, it really should be a push fit and only fits one way around.

The 8 pin connector seems like it fits now.

Could I remove the HDD and try and boot it without it to see if it works?

Thanks.

You can, the pc will just hang at a boot screen saying some crap about disk not found or summin.

You can still enter the BIOS and set time/date, settings etc.

Ah, I'm sorry. I have to go out. I really want to test it.

I'm not sure when I'll be back but I will post when I am back.

Thanks for all your help,
Matt Wilde.

*bump* I'm still away from the computer but I was wondering about the front panel USBs. There are two of them but the manual only says where one goes.

Could I just put the other one anywhere it fits?

Thanks,
Matt Wilde

Have you read the manuals?

the motherboard has 3 USB ports along the bottom, thats more than there is USB ports in the case.

I'll take another look when I get back. I don't remember the manual saying anything but I'm not very observant.

I may have a quick go in a bit. Just gotta let these dogs out.

*bump* I have just fitted the USBs properly and tried turning it on.

The power button doesn't work so I have to make sure the switch is in. Haven't got time at the moment.

I turned it on via the motherboard and everything started. All the fans activate and the Blu Ray Drive opens and closes.

However, a constant beep is heard. I don't know if this is because the HDD isn't in or what. It doesn't sound good.

Thanks,
Matt Wilde

The beeps are likely the graphics card not inserted fully or the RAM.

As for the power switch, you've likely got the wires in the wrong way round.

The motherboard's manual will likely have a printed list of what various beep codes mean, usually in the back of the manual, after the BIOS section.
