Is Waitrose decent/ expensive?

Personally I use Waitrose for my weekly shopping more often than not. For my normally weekly shop there is about a variation of the order of £2-3 between Waitrose, Sainsburys and ASDA so cost doesn't come into it.

ASDA is actually more convenient for me but the fruit, veg and meat from Waitrose has been a lot better so I'll go slightly out of my way to go there instead. If I have a larger than normal shop to do then I'll probably go to Sainsburys as there is no parking at the local Waitrose and the quality there is better, for the things I get, than the local ASDA.

The thing about Waitrose is that there aren't many of them around and they tend to build them in more up market areas. Generally speaking the products aren't really up market or anything, just the clientele. You do get the odd product though that you don't see in other stores, as someone else has said things like the cheese selection is good, and the booze section.

We tend to do our food shopping at a mixture of Sainsbury's and M&S Food. There is a Waitrose near to us, just not as close as the Sainsbury's or M&S Food.

Waitrose Aegean prunes are AMAZING!!

As for them only being in nice areas... (ignore Croydon)

:) nice Waitrose Wines are well selected and not a great deal of vinegar selected, the house cote du rhone village is excellent and only 4.99 a bottle

I wish I had a JL staff card, apparently they are upping the discount to 17.5% (and can be used in conjunction with store offers).

Wonder if Tesco will do the same promotion they had last year, I think I averaged out about £2.30 a bottle for a trolly full of semi reasonable wine, think it was BOGOF and 25% off at the same time

A new one opened not far from us about 6 months ago. Its a pleasure to shop in as far as i'm concerned.

Especially with the hand scanners where you bag your own goods and then just hand your scanner in at the end to pay.
