I watched the first series back in the day but then never got around to series 2 for some reason. Looking for something I can sink some hours into and enjoy. It doesn’t need to be perfect but I understand there are some questionable directions it takes at times. Is it worth watching the whole thing? Or should I steer clear?
Six Feet Under is a fantastic show, right up to the end. It's probably the best drama I've seen. The carjacking episode is, hands down, the most terrifying thing I have ever seen on screen.
You can probably pick up the full series on DVD in your local charity shop for a couple of pounds.
I watched each season a year after it was broadcast and thought it was excellent. It was the first show I watched that made me want to binge watch. I can't even remember the ending but I had heard it was rubbish so had low expectations.
If you go into it as a "journey" rather than a "destination" then you will be rewarded with an excellent story arc and character development.
Saying that I have considered watching it again and after one episode I realized I didn't have the appetite for it. I think a lot of the appeal of it is the mystery and not knowing what is going to happen next.
Better off with something like "Life on Mars" or "Ashes to Ashes" Lost just well lost the plot as it went on. The Ending had nothing what so ever to do with the seasons before, it was just a trick to fool people and to hide the fact nothing made sense and there was no ending or explanation of much of anything.
I refused to watch GoT if George Martin hadn't finished the books, so glad I did, I adore the books and that would make me hate the TV version even more.

There were a few dumb moments in GOT towards the end for sure, but the plot as a whole never felt ‘broken’ to me in the way that others seem to claim.
Generally speaking and not aimed at anyone in particular, I observe that many people have this thing where they absolutely hate it where something they like goes against how they have envisaged something and emotively focus on only the negative aspects of something, to the point where they sort of ruin it for themselves. I remember there were many people on here claiming how in Star Wars the Last Jedi, Leah should have decompressed a spaceship, which was absolute rubbish as it very clearly showed that she entered via an airlock and didn’t just open a door into space, but people were so worked up that they made ways to dislike it even more than was warranted.
For me, the particularly silly things at the end of GOT were as follows (but it didn’t spoil it for me):
Hiding in crypts from an army of the undead... well that was obviously a terrible idea. I just ignore this bit.
Dragon shot down in the middle of the sea without seeing the enemy. I can just pretend it was foggy. *shrug*
Bran being the King. I laughed out loud at this bit, but really only because the actor that played Bran, and all his lines and dialogue, were so damn annoying!!
Another thing that was hated that I actually quite liked:
The death of Jamie and Cersei. People wanted some epic battle death or showdown and instead that were absolutely steamrollered by Danny Targaryen, with a pathetic death cowering in the basements.
In summary, definitely wasn’t the best season, not even close, but I did enjoy that it actually resolved itself rather than the alternative of endless political intrigue.
Those big crossbows could only fire forwards so I was amazed she was trying to attack from the front when in fact all she needed to do was come up the rear and blast them out of the water.

Maybe there were bonus crossbows that side? You have a fair point, but I don’t think a TV show should have to exhaustively show the rationale for every sequence of events for the purpose of justifying itself.

She comes round the back and wrecks the crossbow ships the very next episode I believe, there's no explanation as to why they're not shooting her down this time, the apparent threat is just gone.
Am I remembering correctly that there were several actors on Lost who were arrested for DUI in Hawaii and as a result got fired from the show and their story lines were never resolved.
Also, if you have Amazon and you like detective shows then check our Bosch, couple of cast members from the wire in there too! IMO it is the best show Amazon has along with the Expanse and Better Call Saul.
Lost is up there with Game of Thrones in that the last season and ending are so irredeemably bad that it removes any desire to ever re-watch any of the critically acclaimed and excellent preceding seasons.
I mean I really liked GOT, the last season wasn't the best but I think some of the hate for it was OTT and I agree with some of @Nitefly 's post. Then again the last season of the wire got rather silly too and that's still one of the greatest shows ever.
I've avoided watching lost because of people bitching about the last season and the ending being a total **** show, but is the rest of the series really up there with something like GOT? In which case maybe it is worth a watch?
