Is watching the whole of lost going to pay off for me?

No, worst thing I ever did was invest time in Lost.

Starts off so well and then its like the writers were surprised it got commissioned to continue and never had a plan for how to finish it.
its more or less lost its way after season 3.

i rewatched s1 all the way to s3 just now btw

no it wasnt. s3 was brilliant

S3 Westworld was garbage - you're definitely in the minority there, especially after the fantastic first season. Would love to hear what was so 'brilliant' about it! But everyone is entitled to their own opinion (even when obvs wrong).

dont bother, watch the expanse instead

Again, BSG is fantastic, as is The Expanse.

O you didn't like season 3?

I've watched bsg 3 times already, this is my 4th rewatch. Its something I come back to every now and then, one of my favourite Sci fi series. All this has happened before and it will happen again. :)

As for expanse, well, I post rather a lot in the expanse thread so goes without saying I really like it.

I'm confuzzled :) Season 3 of Westorld, imo, was garbage. Especially when we had an excellent S1 and a very good S2 - seemed to have gone downhill each season, but even more so with S3.
AHH i leant s3 of lost was good. well so was westfield s3 but i think s2 should have been it. perfect ending

Lost was one of the defining shows for me as a youngster. I loved it at the time and got really into the fan forums and theories. I can't deny that it did lose its way somewhat after s4 though..

Shall check out "The Wire".

I lasted one episode of The Wire after recommendations from here :( Let me know how you get on, but this was the only show i took an instant dislike too.

You can't just watch one episode of the wire and go "Well that's rubbish"!

The first time I watched it (DVD's!) I'd say I didn't start fully understanding it all until episode 3 with the chess game.

I re-watched it last year with my wife who had never seen it, and other than some old-tech regarding pagers it still very much holds up.

Tbh the 2nd season was weak.

The rest of it was brilliant though

I think they should have made S3 of WESTWORLD :))) but imo they became self aware and left the parks too early. There was so much more they could have seen and explored!

There was a lot they could have done with season 3 of Westworld - I ended up hating it in the end - initially it felt like they were building something but it ended up just being a check the box exercise of plot points without actually doing anything with them :(

Season 1 and 2 hinted heavily at aspects like the outside world outside of the park not being all it seemed, in a somewhat ambiguous way, which would have been a good undercurrent to season 3 i.e. amongst other things it should have left you questioning all the time (without revealing it within season 3) if they'd actually left the park, in its whole sense, at all and developed the theme of what Westworld actually was, as in what it represented metaphorically, into the season.

Still need to watch S3 of Westworld, I found the first excellent, the 2nd a bit of a slog but paid off reasonably well at the end. All the bad press about S3 has made me hesitate to proceed further.

Tbh the 2nd season was weak.

Yeah S2 of The Wire is a bit of an anomaly, considering the superb quality of the rest.

Used to watch this once this once a week back in the day on channel 4 and all I remember was 30 minutes of scenery and 30 minutes of adverts. The rumor what it was all about when it started in 2004 turned out to true in the end in 2010 (wont spoil it). I think the worst part was too many loose ends never got an explanation like the numbers on the rabbits. On you tube there are quite few cant bothered to watch it videos which will give you an overview.

You should definitely give Lost a go, you won’t find another show with so much character back story, you feel like you get to know the characters really well.

It’s my number 1 show.

The ending could have been a lot better but the journey from season 1 to 7 is worth it.

I'd like to ask all those who thought the endings of Lost and GOT were awful - how would you have ended them to make them better?

Get rid of the afterlife "flash sideways". I do understand why it was there but for me it was such a silly misdirection on what started as a hugely promising concept (some sort of reset).

I was okay with most of the Island stuff even though, like everyone, would have preferred some more explanations to some of the mysteries.

Lost suffered from the writer's strike.
Then they brought in Lindehoff to piece it together,he didn't know what or where it was meant to go.
In lost even the ******* numbers were utter ***** in the end. No actual explanation bar passenger numbers by booking order.
Utter twaddle.
Indy 4 and its alien ******** made more sense.

To answer your Q, shooting Damon in the head and having a class of 10 years old write the finale would have made more sense and been more enjoyable
