ISIL, ISIS, Daesh discussion thread.

It's simply down to reporting style. Replace the word Jihadists with Freedom Fighters, or Rebels.

It's the sensationalist reporting that we know you love.

Turkey floods northeastern Latakia (Syria) with Jihadist fighters

why aren't people talking about turkey supporting al-nusra and other jihadists like FSA?

I'm surprised Turkey (it has to be Turkey) resupplying/reinforcing al-Nusra has gone so quietly relatively speaking - this isn't just a few guns its a serious re-supply with heavy weaponry - even accepting a certain amount is propaganda they've picked up a lot of hardware that they can't possibly have got hold of in Syria - some of the obsolete but still very capable hardware only Turkey in that region is known to still have any quantity of.

Also wondering where they got a sizeable number of Shilkas from - while most of the rest of the armour they seem to have acquired recently has likely come from Turkey AFAIK most of those in Syria are accounted for and either in Syrian hands or in ISIS hands and I don't believe Turkey has ever had any quantity of them.

EDIT: Looks like Iraq have ZSU-23s so I guess they've come from that direction possibly.

Looks like the push on Mosul is coming along nicely. It's only a matter of time for that place. What with HVI targeting in Syria too, no doubt each one of them will scarper off to Libya and it will be whack a mole over there.
