ISIL, ISIS, Daesh discussion thread.

They have been rolling as a land force for the past three years. That's how they've managed to control towns and cities in the open. This is nothing like the insurgency.

Not as a conventional land force though - the bulk of their forces have stayed highly mobile utilising pickups, etc. so as be to be hard to pin down or force into a direct firefight - sure there is some times where they have taken more of a stand or pushed to hold territory while those against them are on the backfoot.

Or you have seen footage of some people celebrating which some tin foil hatter has said are mossad agents celebrating 9/11 and confirmation bias makes you believe it?

Well it's not disputed that 5 Israelis were caught in New York filming the attacks and appearing to celebrate. They later suggested on TV that they were there to document what was happening. If they were agency or not is not relevant to my question. Knowing the fact that Israelis were celebrating 9/11 what are we supposed to do about that?

ISIS have barely any old tanks left. Try they've been destroyed from the air. They have very little resistance. The Iraqi Army gave taken a few strongholds back recently. With NATO troops on the ground this mess would be put to bed sharpish.

The foundations need to be removed before anything else happens.

When will you realise that having Western forces on the ground in Iraq, Syria etc will exacerbate the situation and lead to the emergence of the next Al-Q or IS. The Western public after the defeats in Iraq and Afghanistan have no will to enter yet another pointless, costly exercise.

Of course he hasn't, it's the usual vitriol from the likes of RaohNS et al. What actually happened was he read something somewhere about how someone at some time celebrated the death of white people... Which of course is not unfathomable. I'm quite sure there were people who were celebrating these actions, I'm also dubious though that there were "scenes of celebration", as if to suggest there were crowds of them there darkies partying in the street like.

Or the usual inability of Cod to type 9/11 celebrations into Youtube. Very naive indeed to believe no celebrations did or indeed still do take place. Areas of the UK used to have Magnificent 19 posters up on the 9/11 anniversary.

Strange how you say in your post it didn't happen but then say but ok it did

Bib time.

Where in the post did I state it didn't happen?
Where in the post did I mention 9/11?
What on earth are you wittering on about this time??

More importantly, as originally asked of you.... GOT A LINK??

The video doesn't show the actual footage does it? Manbij has been a quick procession of regaining much of the city. Unfortunately it's very urbanised and still consists of many civilians. ISIL have dispersed amongst the civilians. Then on top of this the US seem to adhere to much looser rules when it comes to expectation of civilian casualty than the UK does.

Zero civilians should die, a large group of them though is totally unacceptable.

E: reading more into it, these claims were made by the Syrian Observatory and another monitoring group, the Local Co-ordination Committees (LCC). The coalition haven't commented yet, so it's still assumption with no real conclusion yet. Which means possibly anyone could have done this, including the Russians, the Syrians and the Turkish. I wonder what the "official" line will be from the US.......

Great.... the caliphate will continue to grow along with the terror attacks. There is just no dialogue with these people.

I'm glad part of the plan is working in Iraq, where their own troops have been able to make ground. That is the ideal scenario.

That won't happen in Syria until Assad is gone, and he's not going anywhere while Russia has his back.

The penny may never drop.

As I said parts of this country had posters up after 9/11 by Al Mahijaroon (sp) with "Magnificent 19" on them. The posters were distributed and shown in several areas in the UK. Every single Asian lad at my high school had a bin Laden picture in their year book. And people are really so naive or blind to think there were no celebrations at all?

Al-Muhajiroun was a fringe extremist/terrorist group that had no sway whatsoever over ordinary Muslims. They did indeed celebrate 9/11 and Bin Laden.

"Every single Asian lad at my high school had a bin Laden picture in their year book".

This statement is so unbelievably ludicrous that nothing really needs to be said.

Or any evidence, come to that.

So...historical accounts of things don't count as evidence? Most of those are first hand.

In fact...pretty much every bit of evidence ever is first hand.

Can you point me to the part where I used those words. It shouldn't take long as I only posted two sentences.

There you go, quoted your entire post for you. His 'anecdotal stories' are first hand accounts.
In any realm of research first hand accounts are a recognised source. So why are his being dismissed?

Do they make for universally accepted evidence, as per my full post? Yes or no would be fine.

But your full post contained more than just one sentence. Did it not? Yes or no will be fine.

It contained a key second sentence. One that dismissed his observations as being worthless.

Anecdotal stories do not make universally accepted evidence.

Or any [meaningful] evidence, come to that.

There you go!

I'm sorry how would you know this exactly?

I am telling you for a fact every single one of the Asian lads had it in. I swear on my life. A girl even gave a speech as part of her GCSE speaking exam saying bin Laden was a good man and had not admitted to the attacks (which I think at the time was accurate may be evidence released later to say he did but at the time that was the case).

Had the aforementioned have occurred today at a school every one of them would have been offered prevent. A few of them were charged with terror related offences a few years later too.

In fact recalling something very recently someone else from my year also had stuff and was arrested. Went off to find the story and found it:

But of course because I don't accept the rose tinted view of the world I'm talking tripe
