ISIL, ISIS, Daesh discussion thread.

Did anyone watch ITV news last night? Some balls of steel front line reporting from Mosul. 3 suicide bombers in cars attacked their convoy and the reporters were in the lead vehicle of the attack.

it's embedded throughout the whole thread, you seem to have an issue with Syria fighting off the terrorists.

Ohhh I see how this works, the old interpret something someone says into some other completely different way that you want.

My turn: why do you want Assad to indiscriminately murder his own people?

While "liberation" of Mosul is in progress, Islamic State forces counter-attack in Kirkuk. I guess this is the drawback of announcing to the world when your military is about to embark on an operation, it gives the enemy time to plan a response.

The problem was, as ever, the ISF were poorly prepared/disorganised so the element of surprise was lost as execution was delayed.

so you don't have an answer, for someone who has spent half his life in this thread i expected him to have some kind of reasoning for his extremely biased posts

To summarise. You asked me a ridiculous question, in return I asked you a ridiculous question. Neither of us (unsurprisingly) received a sensible answer. So in short time we can bring this useless and silly conversation to an end.

In future, post sensible and meaningful posts with content or simply shut up and say nothing at all.

Well lets be honest here, lets take Libya as the example of when you should just let the ***** run the country and ignore it, instead there are now hundreds of *****s and no rule of law (regardless of how harsh it might have been).

So to advocate for Syria's government to fall, is to advocate the same thing that happened in Libya.

All of these "nation states" are barely held together tribes that all hate each other, and especially if they aren't the right kind of religious belief, so no... these rebels do not want a progressive nation at all, they want to benefit their tribe and that's it. They should all be stopped to preserve some level of sanity in the region.

How do you think the 'free' western world got to where it is? Did it just allow oppressive regimes to continue to dictate them? As a Scotsman you amaze me how you are so accepting of that. Mind you, when it's not in our own back yard, who cares right? I'm alright Jack!

blame the rebels for using them as shields

Theoretically, if you were an armed policeman in a stand off with a criminal holding a hostage at gun point as a shield. Would you shoot the hostage, in the hope of hitting the criminal, and then when the hostage dies proclaim "ah well, blame the criminal"?

Countries need to get their own houses in order and move toward democracy at their own pace or it wont work.
