ISIL, ISIS, Daesh discussion thread.

Oh another red line wonder who is going to cross it and/or who will back down if it is. Looks like things might get even stickier in Syria :s

I still don't think it was Assad the last time, I reckon it's more likely to be one of the many terrorist groups that the US are providing air-cover and CAS for and who the terrorist state, Saudi Arabia, are funding.

Read this this morning and its worryingly on the mark...

Lost among the deluge of stories about the Russia investigation and the Republicans’ push to take healthcare away from millions of people, the Trump administration is laying the groundwork for a disastrous regional proxy war against Iran in Syria, and possibly beyond.

Foreign Policy reported recently that key officials within the Trump administration are “pushing to broaden the war in Syria, viewing it as an opportunity to confront Iran and its proxy forces on the ground there”. The strategy was being advocated over objections from the Pentagon, but it doesn’t seem to be deterring the White House.

As the Washington Post made clear just a few days ago, Iranian and US forces have already been directly clashing in the region, and officials are busy planning the “next stage” of the Syria war once Isis is defeated – a plan that centers around directly attacking the Iranians.

How long before we end up being dragged into another middle eastern war, this time with Iran, via Syria

The author didn't mention anything about the situation in Qatar at the moment, but if something does indeed happen that could be seen as another precursor - possibly a mix of increased isolation of Iran and also the removal of a largely independent Arabic news network from the region.

Its turning into a right mess - the relationship between all the elements as well is crazy i.e. you have Turkey, Qatar and Iran loosely cooperating together over the whole Qatar thing but very different alignments in other aspects and then Egypt which has very complex relationships with all 3 but seems to be being drawn in via Saudi Arabia and that is without taking anything to do with Syria into account.

Yep, I don't believe for a second that the US knows what is happening over there, there are so many groups who had access to them weapons and so many reasons for groups to try to blame the other for using them.

That said, I don't know how the US and her allies that includes us have any legal right to involve themselves into an other nations sovereignty. They are acting as gods.

This latest warning is just a pretense to give them a reason to bomb the SAA which only damages their fight against ISIL and them taking the country back again and under control.

It's so people know that what he types is more important than everyone else's.

Interesting about the Sarin gas attack in April now confirmed. Unfortunately no real way of determining exactly who did it. So that of course means the CTs will as always jump to the conclusion that it was everyone but the most likely perpetrator (Assad).
