Islamic Preaching

Scientology 4tw  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ScientologY

Tbh panthro its up to you if you wanna believe it believe it.

In my honest opinion not meaning to be force my opinion in any way!
I was educated in a church of england school ( i use that term loosely )and was forced into attending communion etc.... that permanently dissuaded me from adhering to any religous regime because imo it's all based on fictional texts written by people who were trying to instill some kind of morals on a seemingly, at the time "heathen" like society.

Religeon is only valid in moralistic terms, fundamentalism is not!

Religeon is good for morals but NOT good as far as im concerned as a fundamental way of life we are no better than the chimp picking nits in the jungle.

Dont ignore what was said by that person but try and interpret it in real world terms and rationalise it, if thats possible.

Discuss. :p

I tell anyone who tries to convert my religion to **** off tbh. When they say "You will burn in hell" I usually say at least it's warm there, England sure isn't warm.

My wife and I got married in a Registrars in 1980 because of our non beliefs.
Our 19 and 17 year old girls haven't been christened because of our non beliefs.
Quite ironic since we met in church in 72 when we were Christians.

Similar here....

I was baptised RC, confirmed C of E and my wife and I married in a Registry Office because of our beliefs...she's Aethist, i'm Agnostic

Our 11 year old son hasn't been baptised ...it's up to him to make up his mind about religion

If someone lived their life on a deserted island and never came across the Quran or any prophet, then he/she will be judged by the only One who is worthy to judge, thats God.

Essentially similar to the conclusion the Christians and Mormons i've spoken to have said (after a bit of work getting it out of them :)). So... really. What is the point? If you're judged by God when you die (regardless of faith or lack thereof) why should you bother?

God hasn't equiped me with a mind that accepts any of the major religious doctrines.

I'd love to believe but I have investigated all the major religions and can see flaws in most of them. saying that I think there is good things in all religions that can be taken on board to improve your life, but really they are just a rough guide.

So God should have made me more narrow minded if I am supposed to believe in just one.

Not my fault....

At my work, we have a lot of Arabic clients who put on displays about their businesses and their countries along with information on Islam.

Today I was told by one guy on a stand that if I do not convert to Islam I would burn in hellfire for eternity. When I told the guy I didnt care, he said to me, well you cant blame me now for you burning in hell. I asked him to elaborate, and he basically told me that it is a Muslims duty to inform everyone that they are in contact with about Islam being the true religion, and that if they did not, I was allowed to hold them responsible when I die on judgement day. This means that God will also make them burn in hellfire as well for a period of time for not spreading his word. Can any muslims on here back this up?

I wont elaborate into what else he told me because it would end up creating a massive arguement on here.

I guess this makes sense why Islam has spread so rapidly and I have people trying to convert me nearly everyday.

Sorry i have to LOL at that story, i like it i like it a lot:D. But yeh your gonna burn in hell for all eternity, best get that flame proof suit on there mate ;):p

You should tell any Muslim that preaches to you, to preach to his close family first, then the rest of his family, then his friends and then, once they are all good practising Muslims, to preach to strangers - that should keep them off your back!

I hate it when religion is forced on you.

For all those non religious people, if you were in a life threatening situation or on your death bed would praying to God be an option? I'm saying this because I remember listening to that 9/11 voice recording where the guy's last words were "oh god".

Nah probably be "Oh ****"

Hmmm scientology eh??

I heard the other day that Tom Cruise and his missus Katie whatever her name is are having a baby. Imagine my shock, horror and disgust at the reports that hes going to eat the placenta of his baby right there and then. God knows if its true but even so its a disgusting act to carry out...ewwww..

What kind of a screwed up faith is that  at least we muslims kill people....we sure as hell dont eat them though :p:D

I'm a Christian, but not a practising Christian. All I follow is:

"treat others like you would want to be treated yourslf"

Which I feel, will set me in good sted for my lifetime. Hasn't done me wrong yet :)

It was a wind up and more to do with new age hippiedom than scientology.

You do realise that in 6 months time that quote will be dug up and thrown at you in Speakers Corner by the usual suspect?

Of course :p, im just waiting for the usual suspects to jump on my back ;).

Still any faith that asks for its followers to eat a baby's placenta is kinda strange and weird but then these scientologists are a weird wacky bunch...harmless though thankfully :p:D

3 different english translations of the Quran for you there, its only 114 chapters thats all of it, if you have time to spare I urge you to read it with an open mind :)

I dont want to argue on this because this is the most sincere and decent thread we have had on religion in GD in a long, long time...

but when you mean 'with an open mind' dont you just mean with a mind to accept what you have presented.
