Isp that don't cap or try and get you to cap? LIKE PIPEX!

Hi people.

I'm on pipex been with them for 2 months and i've got a email saying i'm downloading to much.
Not to happy about about this as i have been with them for over 4 years now. Moved house twice and had them as my isp. I'm on home office and now i've got a email saying i'm downloading to much on my 2mbit connection.
I've sent them a letter saying i rang up and spoke to someone about this and i got told i was a fine on home office to download as much as i want.

So what isp don't seem bothered about downloading what you like?
Does anyone have any please?

Zen is the one that springs to mind, but it is expensive.

Eclipse are a bit expensive but have repeatedly stated that they won't impose caps or limitations. I'm going to spend another month with plusnet and see how I fare with this lame '20gb' of clean usage lark before deciding on zen or eclipse.

Don't know how you do it. I hit 3gb on my first couple of days from browsing alone. Downloaded a few trailers from xbox live and went over 5gb so quick.

any Business ISP will usually offer you a no capped services, but as previously said having no cap isnt going to be cheep

Im currently with AOL, and they have never imposed any caps for all the time that I have been with them, and the prices are cheap compared with other "no caps" services. Is a fine service apart from a freezing problem when I first connect and have to unplug then plug in the modem to unfreeze, but otherwise recommended

been with Pipex myself for 4 years and got the same e-mail ... network managment geeez how can these ISP's try to sell you 8Mbs/sec and then say "oh but your speed will be limited during the busy periods" .. eclipse , zen , or possibly newnet ... anyone got anything bad to say about UKonline ???

From what i remember they have never specified any limit ... they just say "they will monitor use and if they feel its excessive they will impose network management & fair share use on the user" ... Pipex IMHO were great but since they went on an aquiring spree buying competitors they have gone downhill fast and they havent even lowered prices like other ISP's are trying to do ... so ive asked for a MAC and been told they can issue immediately but it takes 48 working hours before they tell me what it is .... geeez and since then im struggerling to get much above dial-up speeds ... pretty childish behaviour ...

im with pipex at the moment i only get about 1mb/s at the moment with them when its meant to be 2 which is annoying and i plan to go to BE when they do what ever they need to do to my exchange in Feb so hope fully not to long before i can change but to be fair i cant find any thing on BE if they are good or not etc...

so if anyone could tell me there experiences with them or know some one with them at the moment it would be much appreciated

to answer the ??? who to migrate to ... a few choices so far ... Zen , Eclipse , Newnet & a few peeps ive spoken too saying AOL is actually good as long you dont need tech support as thats based in India mostly

just how much are you downloading to trigger this email?

I don't know i'd say around 35gig a week maybe.
Total joke!!!

I see after a day they've not gotten back to me after my email i sent them!

I'll be moving but not sure who to.
I have 2mbit and they say you can't use it to it's max total joke!!!

Yeah, 245GB/month is pretty heavy, by any standards.

As I said before, I don't see what you can legally download in a week to fill 35gb of bandwidth. I'd say they are within their rights to email you about it. I expect at the rate you download if you move the new people will probably email you too surely?

I have no idea how much i doownload ... i dont monitor it & to be honest i should'nt have too as the sevice i signed with and advertised was "unlimited" . IMO a 2M/b sec Unlimited package should be just that and not have the service impeeded and imposed on users at the whim of the supplier . How are they gonna cope in future with movies on demand & the like if they impose speed throttles on a supposed 2M/b service ... its a contradiction to offer something then lower the standards because some peeps use it to the limit. As for myself ive never maxed out my connection but do download at a fairly constant rate through the day which they never complained about before they started buying up others including f2s and nildram. I see the trend will spread through all ISP's but ill try avoid such ISP's as long as i can.
