I started this thread with a feeling of dread, I didn't think he was the sort of man to take the huff over some perceived sleight, or to have fumbled with the new forum security measures to no avail. Feek confirmed my worst thoughts early today and I can say, hand on heart, I had tears in my eyes.
To go from seemingly chipper and robust to dead in such a short time, accidents aside, shows man's fragility. To lose a wonderfully charismatic forum member who hid his advanced age with wonderfully penned stories of his colourful life in many countries and situations, and retaining a general knowledge of both the broadest and in the case of his home city, concentrated scopes is indeed sad.
I raised my glass to his memory tonight, and trust he finds heaven's congestion charges none too Draconian, and the food and wine to his refined taste, otherwise expect a black cab to fall from the skies with an irate Jean-F at the wheel, wanting his entry fee back.
It was a pleasure and an honour to know you slightly from afar, you take a well earned rest mon ami mate. I wish you a fond goodbye.
My sincerest condolences to his patently obviously adored family.
