Italian Grand Prix 2010, Monza Circuit - Race 14/19

If you want constant passing and crashing, watch bike racing or national race series, because clearly F1 isn't for you :). The race was far from boring.

Agreed. For a dry F1 race, this was pretty good.

Button and Alonso (although they weren't overtaking), were driving the first half of the race like qualifying laps. They really were driving close to the limits of their cars. This is why I rate this as one of Button's best dry race performances because he was driving so quickly, without making mistakes. Had Vettel been in Button's position, I think he would've made a couple of errors which would've allowed Alonso through.

Being hounded like that for about 35-40 laps places major demands on a driver's mental ability and this was shown by the fact that during this period, Button hardly spoke (on his radio).

From what Button, Whitmarsh and Coulthard have said, although the damage looks severe, it didnt make much (if any) difference to Button's pace.

Witmarsh said they weren't looking for excuses and Eddie said it's down to the driver to drag the car around the track no matter what condition it's in.

When teams spend millions of pounds on aero to make up tenths of a second on lap times, that sort of damage must have had some affect.

All I'm saying is it's a credit to JB that he 'dragged it around the track' the way he did with that sort of damage for 53 laps.

They did say during the first 10 laps or so that they thought JB should have been pulling away from FA more than he was. Maybe the damaged wing was a contributing factor.

Considering that until the pit stops, there was 4 tenths of a second between JB and FA for most of the race, not much difference (if any) sic. ;) is still going to be significant.

Oh god its a silly o clock start next! :(

edit, no I forgot they put it on at a suitable time, Japan and South Korea won't be much fun though!

I swear every race this season seems designed to close any gap that dares appear in the championship. We're now back down to one win separating the top 5, and three whole points between McLaren and Red Bull.

What a fantastic season, I really hope it stays this close to Abu Dhabi.

It looks like a layer of laminate/paint has just came off.

Don't think we looked at the same rear wing.. a layer of paint?

I don't think it would have changed the outcome of the race tbh, But there was more than a layer of paint missing from that wing.

Great drives by Alonso,Button and Massa. Good to see Massa up there
