Monza

Monza is regarded by many as the embodiment of Formula One racing. Not only is it a fantastic example of a track that combines speed with skill, it also has a heart and soul all of its own. It has seen some of the finest races of all time, but also some of the sport's worst accidents. The names of great drivers and the sounds of engines from years gone by linger in the grand old trees surrounding the track in the royal park.

Work began on the circuit in 1922 and was completed in under six months. After Brooklands in the UK and Indianapolis in the USA, it was the third permanent race track in existence. With a banked oval incorporated into the design of the road racing circuit, the total track length stood at a whopping 10 kilometres.

The list of famous victories and horrifying crashes is long, and all combine to make Monza one of the most magical places on the Formula One calendar. For many there is nowhere that encapsulates the sport better than this circuit. The Italians call it 'La Pista Magica', the magic track, a description few would disagree with.

With McLaren's lack of straight line speed at Spa, I'm thinking this is not going to be a good weekend for them.

On the flip side, Red Bull had a very fast car.

But Alonso will have 100,000 Italians pushing him along too.

Honestly can't call it. But cant wait!

Not really.

Alonso could wrap this title up just with some solid podiums for the rest of the year.

If anything its everyone else who needs the wins.

Nope, he will need wins. 24 points is not a lot, if Seb wins 3 races even if Alonso is 2nd then the gap is 3 points.

Alonso will be lucky to win this weekend. If he has a trouble free race weekend, I expect a 3rd place will be the best he could do.

Why will he be lucky to win? Ferrari has improved the car again and Monza should be good for them, and a big update to come for Singapore. He would have been fighting Seb for 2nd yesterday no problem.

Get the feeling Red Bull and Mclaren will be quicker. We'll see though :)

Again, Alonsos best qfy this year in the dry is 3rd. He ain't going to win Monza very easily considering others are definitely faster in the dry. Arguably he or the ferrari is best in the wet.

How Vettel and webber came back from low grid slots would worry me in the dry if I was ferrari. With no incidents the best grid slot he could hope for is 5th.

Hopefully he will prove me wrong and pull another rabbit out of the hat :)

The Ferrari is much better in the race than in qual though. Massa came from a worse grid slot to beat Webber so it's not that worrying.
