Italian Grand Prix 2013, Monza - Race 12/19

The team, sure. But Red Bull ownership and the winning? They are far from certain. How many people working at RBR are from the Stewart GP days?

The Red Bull ownership is pretty much self financing, TV coverage alone is worth millions to the brand. There are probably 200+ people that were here when it was Stewart GP

Red Bull wont be going away any time soon. They are to successful and shrewd not to be here for the long run. Only problem i see for Red Bull is when the time comes to replace Adrian Newey that guy is a design genius.

Good to hear. The team will survive regardless. But as with all investments, Red Bull will be less interested in owning the team if it stops performing well and making them look good.

But then it doesn't look like they are going to stop performing well any time soon :p

The Infiniti deal suggests Nissan might be in line to pick up the slack if Red Bull did decide to reduce their stake in the team.

Hulk to Lotus and Raikkonen to Ferrari, I like those moves a lot. Hulk to Lotus is speculation though, would be great for him if it happened.

In fairness, that's only value that's realised by the F1 team if the global brand continues to fund it. The global brand may well account for the F1 contribution to be £x million but if £x million less the dividend to the shareholders is not the sufficient amount returned to the team in order to invest in continuing to be successful then....

No different to any other team, just bigger numbers.

Was Stewart GP a start-up from scratch team or a remould of another a la Tyrrell/BAR/Honda/Brawn GP/Mercedes?

Didn't BBC's Gary Anderson design at least one of the Stewart GP cars and a couple of the Jaguars?

Stewart GP was a new team and works supported by Ford.

They were spawned out of Paul Stewart Racing who ran GM Lotus, F3, F3000 etc.

Not sure I'm happy about this tbh. Always loved massa and it's a shame that horrific injury robbed him of his confidence.

Massa has always been one of F1's nice guys but he just isn't good enough to deserve the Ferrari seat. I'm not convinced the accident affected him that much. He score a lot more points in the half season after he came back than he did in the half season before his accident and landed podiums on his first two races back.

People seem to think that Newey is the only reason for their success.
I disagree strongly with this.

RBR are successful not just because

1. they have one of the best lead-designers in F1
2. they have one of the best pit crews on the grid
3. they have one of the best drivers in F1
4. they have one of the best team principals in F1
5. they have one of the design departments in F1
6. they have one of the best engineering departments in F1.

etc.

If it was that simple, some team would hire Newey for US$50M/year and he would build them title winning cars every year.

Its a combined effect. This is the reason why rival F1 teams are finding it so damn difficult to beat RBR.

In any given year, some team matches them in 2-3 departments, but falls short in all the other departments.

McLaren had arguably the best car last year, but they didnt have the pit crew or strategy team which could allow their drivers to go toe-to-toe with Vettel.

I agree with this.
I think the Alonso factor didnt help much.
I remember there was one race, perhaps their 4th or 5th race driving together, where I saw Alonso overtake Massa on the entrance to the pit-lane. For me, that was the key moment, where Massa realised who the boss was. I remember Massa complaining about that move to his team, but they simply asked him to get on with the job.

Have you ever been knocked out?

Even though you don't remember the incident itself it definitely affects you and makes you more risk averse.

Kinda depends upon how you were knocked out and how long ago it was. I was in a car accident several years ago where I was knocked unconscious and I can't remember how it happened, but I still drive as fast, if not faster than I did then. Although it wouldn't be difficult as I was in a Citroen Dyane 6 :o at the time and now I drive a remapped 1.6 ecoboost focus...

The best team principle? :o

The rest I could agree with, but that's pushing it.
