Italian Grand Prix 2014, Monza - Race 13/19

Why would they fire a driver who is very good and then who is around to replace him, I see no one out there either available or better, aside from JB....

I remain surprised that Ferrari took Kimi back even after his performance at Lotus; I'm even more surprised with how poorly he's performing at Ferrari. What is up with the guy?

Raikkonen is one of the most overrated drivers in recent memory IMHO. Everyone seems to think he's one the greatest ever but he just doesn't live up to the hype.

Great at McLaren and good at Lotus, but other than 2007, Ferrari somehow manage to take the edge off him.

Still, he was excellent at Spa, so it's some odd timing that the pitchforks are only now coming out.

I was watching the recorded quali earlier and they showed the top 10 fastest speeds.... wow McLaren must really suck as they did even appear in it. They have gone down hill big style... They have got a Merc engine, how are they not getting good speed? They must be having to crank the wings to get them through the corners.

Anyone else warming to Vettel now he's not dominating the sport? :o

I thought in the interview with DC he took what was happening really well and to the outside at least was praising DR for his achievements this season. I'm not a fan and have never been but I can't imagine too many world champions taking the whupping as well as he seems to be.

Kimi is still an awesome driver. Sadly I won't remember him as one of the greatest drivers, just good entertainment.

Isn't it pretty much confirmed that the Haas F1 lineup will be Bianchi and Rossi?

Perhaps but that's not until 2016. Could they promote Bianchi for one season? I doubt they'd pay off Kimi again but if Kimi were to get an offer from another team then perhaps there could be a 'mutual' parting of ways.

Going on his current form, what front running team would want to offer him a drive?

So the fact that ferrari has said kimi is doing a good job and confirmed both drivers for 2015 is not to be believed,? I think not....

McLaren usually visibly have more wing than other teams at Monza. They generally have for the last half a decade or so. It's just their preferred way of going racing here.

You're able to run higher downforce perfectly fine here, the issue is being able to defend and overtake with such wings, but of course that's not as much of an issue with DRS - especially this year with the torque curve and them barely ever hitting the limiter.

McLaren being awful isn't something Monza specific - they've been atrocious all year.

High wing is OK when your up front. This year McLaren need a spec they can use to overtake, yet they have kept their relatively high wing levels, which feels a bit odd.

And are all the cars really nowhere near the rev limiter? That's a mistake. This is the highest speed track of the year, the entire set of fixed 8 ratios would be based around an 8th gear that juuuuust tops out under DRS at Monza. If there's headroom left then they have been too conservative with their gears.

Edit: actually, I'd forgot they are nowhere near the 15k limit anyway, hence why they have plenty of headroom.
