Italian Grand Prix 2014, Monza - Race 13/19

Since he's bitter about changes in his personal life meant that he had to give up the F1 gig and BT Sport have yet to show any interest in F1? Or that he's just a bloke with an opinion? Or that he thought that tweeting about something that's been already discussed to death would gain him a few more followers?

Who knows. I don't think he's pretending to be an official source though. He's a month late for that.

DRS activation points seem later than last year - does anyone have the reference points from 2013? Looks like a good thing - less of a guaranteed overtake and more of a guaranteed pull alongside. I really hope that it isn't wet - could see some interesting strategies in the dry and DRS could make for some really captivating encounters between drivers, especially the Mercs.

It strikes me that Monza is so fast that there are fewer opportunities to recharge electrical power. Overtakes could be planned over the course of a couple of laps.

They can recoup energy from the turbo while on throttle, so they should be OK. Spa only has 2 big stops and 75% full throttle, and they were OK there.

JeditOjanen goes full retard on page 1 . The thread should be closed now, according to Godwin's law.

I wonder what would happen if the reverse of last weeks collision happens here. No one would care? "He deserved it?"

If that is the new run off for parabolica, I hate it.

Great track, let's hope Lewis and Nico can fight without Lewis car breaking, or Nico breaking his car for him.

I'd rather a hard fought battle for first, with no car trouble.

When was the last time we saw Merc 1-2 with both cars starting from row 1?

I just want Nico "Britney Hitler" Rosberg to go into the wall and Hamilton to win. Ricciardo can be second, I don't mind.

Godwin's Law invoked as early as post #16. Nice work, gang. Motorsport fandumb once again surpassing itself.

*slow clap*

They really need to come up with a solution, it's stupid. Fine they want rid of gravel. You need something though other than tarmac.

I don't reaaaaalllly see a problem. You still lose time if you don't stay within the white lines of the track, both during qualifying and in the race, so drivers still need to be on the limit through there.

Lose time, yes, but it's not a race-ender if you make a mistake.

I'm the last person that wants anyone to get injured in the event of a crash, but if you're going to put vast runoffs everywhere then you may aswell paint lines on a runway.

I want drivers to be tested. Monaco is an extreme example of this but that track cripples itself with the limited overtaking spots.

The kitten idea was a good one. Or possibly stick some of those clipboard marketing types on the parabolica and watch as every driver avoids them :D

Aren't these guys supposed to be the best drivers in the world with the fastest cars? I dont like run off area's in F1 mistakes should be punished if a driver loses it and goes off the track.

I really do hate the way a lot of the tracks are now adopting run off area's it takes away from the excitement and the driver now knows he can get away for pushing to hard and losing the car a bit.

I think the Tarmac run off plan was to try and encourage more overtaking. The driver is more likely to try a move round the outside or try a late brake down the inside knowing that if he messes up he's not out of the race.

It's safety. It's a response to Webber making it all the way to the tyre wall a few years back, and other incidents.

I've no real issue with tarmac runoff, but I have a major issue with the border between it and the track being nothing more than a painted line. The FIA create this situation and then wonder why drivers exceed track limits. All it takes is a meter wide strip of astro turf to make running wide the slow option and it wouldn't be an issue.

This (not sure 1m is enough though, just over a width of a car imo).
