First race in a while where I've gone off to make myself a coffee and breakfast part way through the race.

Also, it's Monza. If there is anyone other than a Ferrari or Italian driver on the podium, then they get boo'd.

It has been known for some teams to hire extra security for the Italian GP, only other one that normally happens at is Brazil.

when Rosberg wins by passing Hamilton off the line it's because Hamilton got a bad start. When Hamilton beats rosberg by passing him off the line it's because Hamilton is a far superior driver and Rosberg sucks. This forum does make me laugh sometimes

That whole statement is true though?

So what was Alonso's late pit stop all about? Was he annoyed that Button overtook him and wanted to show the world he's still better by getting the fastest lap?

Could have just been to see how well the whole package is working on brand new sticky tires? McLaren weren't going to score points and aren't in either championship race so might as well do something like this to see how things are going especially on a power circuit when the Honda isn't exactly the most powerful engine.

It just seemed really odd because it happened straight after him getting taken by Button. Still, I'm probably reading too much into it. Just felt like Button kind of sending a message to McLaren.

It was quite amusing really to see Button getting past Alonso and then for Alonso to pit. Probably was Alonso's reply to Button. :p

To see how things are going? By doing a lap substantially slower than qualifying, which gives them an absolute baseline of performance so learning nothing at all? Mclaren like trying to show they are faster any way possible. I'll keep pointing to fanboys who kept bringing up their fastest lap not being far behind Merc in the final race of last year as if it meant great things and Mclaren would be competitive at the start of this season. To do that lap, which again at the time was miles slower than qualifying anyway, he did two 15+ second slower laps to charge up the battery having pitted 8 laps from the end onto the softest tire.

Mclaren like pretending to be fast to keep the hype of their continued improvement going.

Race, boring as hell. Ham threw it away at the start though, there were some weird points he seemed to come off the throttle early when he was behind Bottas. He's always had far higher pace than Rosberg so it does make me think maybe he had a slight problem. Or just semi gave up after passing Bottas took too long. The Ferrari's being on a different strategy just meant pushing to catch them was almost pointless. The strategy pretty much up and down the grid played out in the worst way possible for real action. Couldn't have been much duller if they tried.

The only good part, if I heard it right, was when Palmer was informed Nasr was back in the race at which point I'm fairly sure he said, "well whoop-de-do, he can serve his penalty then"... which was so casual, so british and so deadpan it was hilarious.

Not sure what Alonso was doing strategy wise, he was saying plan A was gone and plan B was now a problem... so instead of pushing then pitting and trying to be fast over the final third of the race they instead did nothing and pitted right at the end. It seemed he knew staying out long on **** tires was a terrible choice but the team didn't decide to make that pit stop earlier.

Depends on the context. If Hamilton beats Rosberg into T1 from P2 because Rosberg has a bad start, the majority of people on here will call it as it is.

Jenson plum last but managed to beat Fernando Alonso with way better race pace? Not bad for a guy who wont be racing next year. Best part of the race was watching Jens. Beautiful drive.

I have noticed Alonso is quite irritating when hes getting beat fair and square by Jenson.. he goes into this almost childish sarcasm mode... if he hadnt have been passed by JB I dont think hed have sarcastically laughed like he did. He also didnt prove anything with that fastest lap.. any driver could have pitted, switched on full qually mode and a fresh pair of boots with fuel that low into the race to set a fastest lap.

My take of it was him suggesting his tyres were shot or something to try and excuse himself for getting overtaken by his team mate.

3 / 10. Boring race, showing why some of these older 'heritage' tracks really don't match up well to current F1 cars. So many more interesting circuits around the world without an F1 race. One of the few F1 tracks I'm not bothered about visiting.

A new 3 year contract is hardly a ringing endorsement.
