You've guessed it, 3 red lights on my 360.

Now this is a launch day machine so where do I stand? Preordered from a high street retailer on launch day and now its gone kaboom.

I didnt play it excessively and I got the red lights after I turned it on after about 3 days of no use.

So, was November 22 the launch day or was is 2 December in UK?
Ill try to find the reciept but may not have it, what can I do? :(

In a way thats good timing, get a brand new console before your warranty is out

You've got 5 days left of your warranty, go to the shop you got it from and get a refund

Phone the shop you bought it from and ask if they have any in stock. If they do tell them you have a faulty unit to exchange and get them to put one aside for you. If they don't have any phone MS and get a return arranged before 2nd Dec.

But as I said no receipt as I see, what other proof will be required?

Also if I get a new one will the warrenty be another year?

Print out a bank statement or a credit card statement which shows the purchase, thats all you need :)
Looks like I got lucky then, will give them a ring tomorrow. :p

EDIT: I was told to squeeze it and give it some lovin' so I did, and it works now  Not expecting it to work for long though....
Will the shop test the console or just give me a new one?

EDIT 2: Just as I thought,worked for 1 minute :p

You should be fine with just the serial number when you call up MS instead of taking it back to the shop.

Are you saying I should send it to MS or is this incase the shop won't accept it?

Is the shop the ideal method?

The shop has to exchange it. A bank statement is a perfectly valid proof of purchase in the same way a reciept is. Their records will also prove a person under your name with your card bought a machine from them on that date.

Shop will be the quicker method I believe, but if they start being rubbish with you, MS should pick up the 360 and replace it with a working one over a couple of days.

Yeah I don't know any shop that will refund a faulty item, especially if they have another one in stock or another method of exchanging (i.e. MS collection).
As far as I'm aware they are under no obligation to refund, just replace. :)

or repair, depends on the product and circumstances.

Really don't get why squeezing it can make the console function again for a time, surely some sort of flaw somewhere along the line?

/stepping on thin ice here

replaced mine the other week from a shop in town. I didnt have my reciept or anything, so phoned up to check first and found out that if i used my loyalty points card that i have for the shop i could phone up the customer services number on the card and request transaction number and a till number

i got these with no problem, went to the shop. the guy phoned up the same place to confirm my name and everythin then he gave me a new console. though he only gave me the console, just took a new one out of its box and put it in my box with my controller and cables etc. not a problem as eveythin else works fine
