i must say, searching XS, Google, ocforums.com etc ... i got no results bar locked multis and XP-M chips

I was waiting for the 'omg its not going to work, thats why ive got my 10 ES chips and custom gray mole blah blah blah' :D

Ah, you got the P5B too! Thing is, you have the CPU and no memory and I have memory and no CPU ;)

Let me know how it goes once you get hold on some RAM

yeah, i thought the P5B was pricey enough... nevermind £180 for the top one

Do know that bord need a newer bios chip to run the Conroe!!! Also there Bios update are locking out the ES chips on all steppings a shas been documented over @ XS.

Oh and if i was you i'd remove that product code or you and whom ever sold you it will be in some mega trouble as ES aint ment to be sold...but people and i do

I think it's a stepping 5.....want me to find out?

Oh and i'm trying to help and ask jellybeard question so less of your nonses and low life coments please...this is his topic.

I'm only asking half the qu's you will be so shut it!

NO

Sorry i had to make my self heared as i have said this about 5 times today so far. It also has been well documented here!!!

''Note: In order for a Core 2 DUO (Conroe) processor to work with this mainboard you may require to perform a BIOS update which will require an older processor or contacting Asus for a new BIOS chip. OcUK does not provide a BIOS flashing service and will not accept used product back unwanted as this board does support Conroe with Asus latest BIOS.''

Have it!

But it doesn't say that for the Asus P5B? It would be stupid for the P5B to require a BIOS update as the chipset was designed for Conroe. :(

So was the chipset on the DH too!!!

Main factor is Asus are locking out ES chips via BIOS...Intel are not!

Well, OcUK just told me it should support conroe as its a new mobo. Good enough for me - if not I will just take it back. Whats strange is I can't even see where the BIOS chip is?

Gibbo sorry for cors sposting

As she should be able to pass you onto the right department and she will no doubt tell me off for posting her mail address but I know you guys need to get BIOS chips for these boards so they work.

Here is the uk contact I was given after contacting my Asus rep - [email protected]

On THIS picture it looks like the BIOS chip is on the left next to the last PCI slot, on my board there is an empty space there? The mystery continues....

No, 975x was designed solely for Pentium D and 4 chips. They only made slight modifications for it to work with Conroe but it remains designed for P-D and P4. 965 is an entirely new design solely for Conroe, the P5D SHOULD NOT require a bios update. If it does then ASUS deserve to be boycotted..
