After umming and arring about changing my Focus for the best part of 18 months I yesterday called the local Honda Dealer asking about a S2000 test drive. To which I was informed there was an 06 model they just took in stock, and it was Black..exactly what I wanted.. it was an omen (Or so my wallet emptying justification thinks).

Today I test drove that exact Honda S2000 with 2000 miles on the clock. Lady owner, weekend toy - Its Immaculate. Got back and after haggling down the price and some extras bought it. Pick it up tommorow and I can't wait.

As good as my Focus served me with 5 years of totally fault free motoring it was time and this will be the first "big boy" car I have owned, feel free to give my the Mum lecture about wrapping it around a pole etc :D

Pics tommorow! (If I have time outside of driving it)

12+My Focus.

More than I wanted to pay, but I considered the rareness of the car on-island especially the colour I wanted, it may well be the only black here. The 3% import duty + time off work/travel expenses/potential bads with no warranty/day insurance for test drives associated with me getting one from the mainland I was more than happy with the price, its a long term purchase and any premium I paid is justified to me for the above.

Hope you enjoy the new car. Although if I ever move to a small island it'll have to be the isle of man.

It could be worse though, if you lived on Sark you'll only be allowed to have a tractor if the goverment gives you permission. If they don't it a horse and cart if you can pass the test.

So I promised pics, sorry chaps. Have not got out of it since picking it up except to eat, pee and watch films at cinema!

Tommorow!

Still have the surreal new car this isnt real feeling :D Spot on!

Quite how it's possible to stick to the 40 blanket limit I don't know. Especially in a car like that that begs to be thrashed. It's probably not even slightly run in yet. :p

That aside, congratulations, and I hope you enjoy it.

ROFL :p ...you think an S2000 is a "big boy" car, it was owned by a lady for a reason, it's got a wizzy little 4 pot under the bonnet, if you want a 'big boy' car, buy one with a 'big boy' engine :D

I wont lecture you on wrapping it around a tree, you need a 'proper' engine to do that 'properly' anyway :) ...if you had bought a Corvette or something I might advise you to be careful.

Now I've taken the obligatory pot-shot at a Honda VTEC unit, I'll say congratulations and I hope you enjoy it.

The S2000 is on my list of cars that I want to drive though, so I can see what all the fuss is about. Still, 2 litres is 2 litres is 2 litres, it's got something like 160 lbs/ft of torque. There's no replacement for displacement!
