Haha, the least they should do if they are serious is to just not pay the amount that should go to clearing the streets (around 50p each) or even the money that actually goes to the local council (around £100 on the average house).:p

The only reason I mention that is because most people seem to have a massive issue estimating snow depths, to the point where halving the depth gives you a true depth. :p

I agree entirely, but you do not know the whole story. Firstly, I checked at six yesterday evening and there was 6" on the lawns and fields, maybe 2" on the patio (where the table is).

This patio around my house stores heat like crazy and snow struggles to settle so there is a limitation to the amount of snow there. You are right, there is probably 4" on the patio.

Now then, 6" on the table (6.5" actually, I checked :)). Over the last week we have built up 6" of snow on the lawns etc, this has come in spits and spats. Lots of showers, nothing heavy.

Unless its really prolonged and really heavy it doesn't settle on the table (which I may point out isnt solid), its a sort of wrought iron grille design (lots of holes in it).

So that 6.5" of snow you see on the table has fallen rapidly in the last 4 hours, ontop of another 6-7" everywhere else (which has accumalated over the last week). Except of course on the patio, which as explained above, gets less snow due to temperature differences.

I photo the tape measure tommorow if you like.

Haha nah that's ok, I believe you as thats essentially the answer I thought there may be (we have the same with our paito. Just jealous you have all the snow.:(:p

(And because a large proportion of people have no idea what an inch is. :p)

I was just going to post that image. To me what is interesting is the UK is covered in snow while Ireland is still green.
 
Walked to work yesterday because the car was still stuck. 11 miles total walking there and back. This morning, my legs and feet are punishing me severely. :(

I'm taking today off because the car is STILL stuck and there's no way I'm doing another 11 mile walk.
