Just went out with a shovel as the compacted ice on the roads is about 2" deep and polished to be soo slippery.

All paths in my area are sheet ice an inch or 2 thick. not fun.

Few guys came round in a council van this morning and shovelled grit onto the big piles of snow left by the snow plows :confused:

?!?!?!? Not a single bit on the paths, all on the meter high piles of snow. What??!

They also went down here with a mini plow and nicely compacted it all so this will be ice tomorrow too.

Whoever recommended that yr.no website for forecast they was bang on last week but today my area its supposed to be snowing from 6pm but nothing yet.

It has been snowing here for about the last two hours. In about the last 20 minuets or so it has started to get noticeably heavier.

Absolutely belting it down here in Stoke. I have at 6" drift against our back door and it's growing and growing! At this rate it'll be well over a foot before the snow stops!

Had a big dump at 4ish then freezing rain and heavy snow since 8ish in warrington
