It's snowing

We've had around 4 inches or so and was still coming down heavy this morning. Decided to get the wife to drop me off at work as didn't fancy getting stuck (RWD BMW). Saw a few cars abandoned and losing it this morning. Main roads are thankfully absolutely fine. Looks to have all but stopped now.

I light dusting round my way but the way people react to it you would think it was the end of the world!

total non event Just north of Southampton - had 20 minutes of sleet around 6:00, the BBC weather page was showing heavy snow between 17:00 and 20:00 yet not a thing lol. Well played MET office, as accurate as always.

I left work at 8pm (opposite asda) and had a tiny tiny bit on my car and that was it. Friend's other half in Alton couldn't get home though, had plenty of it over there.

I will never understand that one person who gets up early just to clear the patch in front of their gates and making a noise. Is their car not capable of driving over it?

A light dusting in Swindon this morning, wasn't there at 0400 when I peeked out the curtain but arrived by 0600 when the alarm went off. Main roads all treated just getting off the estate required some care (ah the joys of automatic transmission and the ********* button). Main hazard this morning was the two pillocks who overtook me on Great Western Way, first a car then a van neither of which had any lights switched on and didn't react to my headlight flash either. Morons.

don't think it's to do with society. more with people not being used to it. Doesn't help if there is snow my work is usually shut.
Saying that having lived in switzerland and germany, you usually just get on with it if it does snow. but then again other countries are better prepared for it as it is a more common occurrence unlike in the UK.

If you drive over the snow, you compact it, then it melts and refreezes and you now have a nice slab of ice just at the point where your driving wheels will be when you are trying to pull out onto the road.

Drivers on the road seem incapable of appreciating that emerging traffic might just come out halfway and then come to a slithering halt.

The best way to keep a driveway clear is little and often, and to never drive over it!

I've never had a problem in 42 years of driving. Like all my neighbours we have all been able to get in and out of our drives without causing an accident. Agreed it could be a problem if you're pulling out onto a main road.

Yup no problem here either with a rwd. Also given temperatures are due to get well above freezing in most places today I can't see it not melting anyway!

In countries where snow is regular, such as Germany, it's actually the law to clear the path in front of your property when it snows. Presumably there is a sensible reason for that.

My next door neighbour let their kid out at half six to play in the snow. He's done nothing but shout and scream on.

I'm working from home as I don't fancy repeating last night's horrific cycle and the kids going to school at 8:15 was bad enough. IT'S SNOWING!!! No ****. Some parents have no consideration.

I have just watched an idiot of a BBC Reporter on BBC Breakfast reporting from Canterbury.

You could clearly see grass between the light coating of snow, there must have been about a quarter of an inch and there he was blithering on about how heavy the snow had been. To make matters worse the two presenters were in agreement with him.

Absolutely amazing

**** me. Kids enjoying the snow. The youth of today eh?

Light dusting of snow, perhaps 1/2 inch, on the roads for me this morning (Gloucs). Road in my village was untreated, but not enough snow to cause issues, and it's all flat anyway.
