It's snowing

Quick question. If there are weather forecasts predicting such weather, why aren't the gritters out doing anything about it? Or any clean up for that matter?

As we've said, the grit is next to useless when it comes to any half decent level of snow, or in this instance, as Uriel pointed out, with rain immediately preceding the snow, the grit was just washed away before the snow started lying.

In all likelihood the gritters have been out, but was probably in vain in any area where any meaningful snow fell.

Might see a repeat of almost the same thing around the 5-8th Jan, several models are agreeing on the same projection - ECM (generally regarded as one of the more reliable) especially showing an interesting setup for the 5th.

Annoyingly the end of the current runs is very teasing showing a potential setup for a proper wintery snap about the middle of Jan but stopping short of predicting how its likely to turn out.

we never really get snow where i live. if i hear of snow nearby im gonna have to drive my son to it! He is 3 almost and has never been in the snow yet :-(

Nothing here so far, though chatting to my bro on fb last night. He lives in northern israel were theyve had several feet in the last few days. Quite a change from the highs of the mid 40's in summer.

Dusting of snow here, about a couple of cm. More to come this afternoon as there is heavy snow forecast even at lower levels for the central belt.

Just started snowing fairly heavily here (west coast Wales). The ground is still soaked from all the rain last night so I can't see it sticking yet.

It's 20 degrees here in the sun, with just a touch of a cool breeze. Besides 2 days of rain it's been between 15-22 degrees with clear blue skies every day since 20th Dec (before then it rained for a month straight). We ate Christmas dinner on the terrace. :)

My garden thinks it's spring as everything is flowering.
