much more bearable.

If any of you are suffering, hold your hands under cold water for a few minutes, the cooled blood at your extremities then cools your core temperature down and you'll feel much better.

+1

I remember these being a godsend back in 2003. Used to have it circulating air under the covers at night. :)

Good idea about the cold water as well.

Shout out to fellow posties working today, been quite tough! I do get fed up of the "I wouldn't mind your job in this weather hey postie" Says you... sat in a deck chair, under an umbrella, drinking a cold drink >.<

On the radio this morning it was saying that this was a bad idea, as it can cause all the warm blood in a body to rush to the centre, increasing the core temperature to possibly fatal levels in the elderly. Instead they suggested washing in tepid water and keep air moving by opening windows, fans etc.

It will cause peripheral vasoconstriction resulting in the heat being contained inside the bodies core and removing one of the main mechanisms for heat removal. This is the reason you don't fan someone, or take their clothes off, or sponge them with cool water if they are pyrexic.

Was on the undeground today and it felt like I was sat in an oven. Mind you, was only a meeting, and it wasn't as hot in london as it is on the south coast atm

Had a free day off work with a couple of friends so spent the day by the Thames drinking cold drinks. In the afternoon we moved to a pub and carried on supping in the shade... Now just off to BbQ some burgers at home... Lovely weather down south. :D

Drove home today with the windows down, the blowers maxxed out pointed at my face and my chest, my shirt unbuttoned, and with my arm hanging out of the window so the air went up my sleeve.

It was still too hot, and I got home looking like I had been roasted.

I want air con :(

My engine warning light came on as well with a 17704 error which is "malfunction in cooling system" lol... Even my car hates it!

Hit 30c in Neath yesterday, have not seen it that hot for ages.

My room was getting up to 27c and the PC case almost up to 29c. Decided to buy a portable air conditioner and what a difference,
my room is now 21c and I'm chilly :D. Pipe is sticking out of the window at the moment, will need to install that properly through the wall.

Only around 20c in Neath today so that's a change from yesterday.

Work near Heathrow airport. Stepped out of the building to head home, almost breathed out fire. No breeze, just sheer sweltering heat. 32c in my room right now and even with a watercooled PC I am scared to game tonight.

Sod this, bring back winter man.

I have mostly been working from home today. I did a short drive in the car, it was reading 34° C. I really hate it being hot at I'm hot blooded, can't stand it like this. Luckily I have air con at home so it's been running all day, nice and comfortable.

Insulation works both ways.

Had the windows in my bedroom fully open with plenty of breeze coming in, absolutely boiling.

I've just come into the living room which was completely closed and it's amazingly cool in here :D. Though it wont last long since I've turned my computer on now.
