It's too hot :(

I always used to sweat so easily. I have an air con in my room to keep me cool. This will be the first year heading into summer at my new weight (6½ stone less than last year) and it's amazing the difference it makes! Not even thought about turning on the air con yet! :)

Weigh to go!

I think my portable is 9000btu. Gets the bedroom down from 25C+ to a more comfortable 19-20. Quite noisy but wouldn't be without it.

I don't mind a bit of noise, I currently have my fan blasting away all night.

Do you use a window sealing kit or just have the window open?

I just pump mine out the window when I use it, but I usually only put it on for 30-60 minutes at a time, then close the window again.

I tried a window seal kit, and it definitely helps and prevents a lot of wastage, but it's not practical in the room and window location where I use it.

Well weather's awesome and I can see the sea but still working unfortunately, can't complain after so much time off, beaches will be heaving this weekend

I have a portable air conditioner we drag out when it gets above 30°C. It’s so inefficient though. I don’t know if people realise but these single hose machines suck in air from the room (which it’s trying to cool) and pump it out the exhaust after it’s passed through the condenser. So you’re sucking out the cold air it’s working hard to create. It therefore doesn’t matter how well you seal the room it has to be letting in warm air from somewhere.

So the energy and noise cost is huge.

I’m extremely tempted to invest in a proper split unit this year...

That looks spot on, I may have to do this.

It gets the job done!

The biggest downside of these units is the air they push out has to be replaced, so it will 'suck' in air from the door so effectively pulls hot air in from the landing for me which ruins the efficiency of it a fair bit. But it's still very good.
