It's too hot :(

A guy in work struggles with the heat and spent 30 minutes telling us how unbearable he finds it and can't sleep etc and really hating this little blip in warm weather coming.

I mentioned I have 3 portable AC Units and whilst they only get used 1 or 2 weeks a year on average, they are god send to just put those on and if you want will get the room down to 17-18 degrees to the point you'd be having to put an extra Duvet on.

I wasn't quite ready for the tirade of reasons he can't use any form of solution..
- Too noisy
- Doesn't like opening a window overnight
- They might dry his throat/nose out
- They are ugly
- Would take up all the room next to his bed.
- The Mrs hates them
etc..

I just laughed.. we wheel ours out an cupboard a few times each year, then wheel it back when finished.. It's noisy, it's ugly, it takes up more room than necessary, but it's flippin effective!

I see Toolstation have a new brand of 12000BTU AC for a reasonable price (£329) - https://www.toolstation.com/12000-btu-portable-air-conditioner-dehumidifier/p83327
Remember in winter an ac unit set up backwards is a much more efficient heater than an electric heater.

A really good one can be up to 500% efficient on electricity for heating, put it outside and stick the hose inside

My colleagues discussed why is there always a rush to buy fans during hot weather.

Do people throw them out at the end of summer and if have a summer which don’t use the fan?

My fan is 16 years old and is stored behind my bedroom door. As never
have door closed .

I have often wondered this too. Although knowing how wasteful people are, then a lot of people probably do throw them out. I've had one of mine for at least 10 years now.

Friday looks awesome and 1st day of my weekend,no AC needed here if any breeze whatsoever it goes straight through the house and out of the back door 19c in here

Pretty unpleasant air here, although still slept ok.

Weather feels like July type weather, even though room temp is only 23C. Granted its 9am though so plenty of time for the temps to sky rocket.
