I've found myself looking at fans online; one just isn't enough. But I'm loathed to fork out for a couple more when they'll be away in loft before I know it and not see the light of day for another year, and then only for a short time. What to do!? What to do!?

be a boss like me and get a proper vent fan and wire a plug to it

can feel the nice cool air being pulled in from the patio doors and being blasted to the other side of the room where I am

I've got it pointing a an angle so the air hits near the corner of the wall and then swirls about around my feet under the desk

I can't understand my wife. When I get in from work she's sat in a cardigan with all the windows shut, it's 900 degrees and the kids are sweating their little ears off. As soon as it starts cooling down after I've opened everything she runs around shutting all the windows.

Now it's 2 billion degrees, I'm in my pants, the kids are lying in bed with fans pointing at them and she's in pyjamas and a dressing gown

I lived in Houston/Galveston before and after hurricane Ike, no power = no a/c, now that was heat, muggy as well 90% +!!

But yeah when it gets hot here i start to complain then think actually i can pretend to be back in Texas which i loved , then i'm not fussed

I caved in and turned on my portable a/c unit today. I thought that I had done pretty well to last until today though.

As I live in Cambridge, I've ditched my car and just cycle everywhere. However, it's horrible cycling in this muggy weather. If the temperatures are going to stay like this for the rest of summer, I might just hire a car for a few weeks. I am a stickler for cold weather / a/c.

Why was it so humid tonight, almost oppressive!

My hallway was roasting and all my other rooms were nearly 40C and this was at 9.00pm at night. I had a fan on and all my windows open ( Only at night ) Yet it made no difference. I went through the very hot days and didn't end up suffering as much as I did tonight.

Gave up and went over my family home but it was almost as bad there. It's as if all the heat of these last few weeks has just stuck in the south east.

Those up north have no idea how bad it is down near london

All that seemed to do for me was raise the humidity for no drop in temperature at the time .... Yucky night. Although now it's quite pleasant but that won't last long ....
