It's too hot :(

Cor, phoar what a scorcher.

The next door neighbour is out in their garden with their top off --

---pity its a 73 yr old bloke.

Have noticed that the two categories of men that go shirtless are either:
. Skinny, pale white skin and ugly
. With large beer guts that look like they are 8 months pregnant and ugly

The forecast thunderstorms and 12cm of rain guaranteed for Sunday here earlier in the week has been downgraded to a slim chance of light rain…

Good that we won’t have flash floods all over the place, but not good news for the water supply.

The lows are predicted to be lower than the last heatwave when it didn't seem to drop below mid to late 20s, and getting sleep feels like half the battle for me. In the hottest night of the last heatwave, my wife and kids slept in the kids' room with the portable air con on. I slept in the usual bedroom, thinking it'd be nice to have to bed to myself for a change.

Really uncomfortable night's sleep, woke up a few times, and then woke up at about 7am, feeling like I was overheating first thing in the morning. Nauseous, headache. Had to go and sit in the garden on a chair for a bit and let my body temperature drop a little bit before I could function. It felt like when you oversleep in a tent in the summer and the sheer heat wakes you up!

I've been outside constructing a house at the top of a natural valley. It's a real sun trap and no escape from it while you work. 8-10 hours of that 5 days a week in direct sunlight is just not comfortable at all and by the time you get to Friday it feels like some sort of torture. Don't get me wrong, I like my job but when the wife says "let's take the kids to the beach Saturday" you can imagine my lack of enthusiasm....

Just keep the hot weather to the weekends please..

Temps outside were nice during early hours, if only those were the day temps. I sat outside on a chair for couple of hours just in my shorts about 2am. Wasnt really any wind though. Sleep pretty much non existent at the moment for me.

Lakes on my golf course have gone from about 5ft deep to about 1ft.. You can see the carp and their fins and I'd say they probably have about three weeks left to live...
This isn't good at all. The end is neigh

The local brook is just about to run dry, by the look of it. The larger stream it joins is not looking too good, either.

On the plus side, no loc idiots have lit a grass fire yet. That is only a matter of time...

Having had a little browse, some websites that might be of interest:

Can see some interesting data from rivers here:

Monthly reports on the water 'situation' including some reservoir levels:

A bunch of other data from monitoring points for rivers, rainfall, groundwater, soil moisture:

Shall I buy air con so that it is never hot again?

What direction does your house face everyone? One elevation of mine is South facing and the bedrooms are West facing. RIP.

Finally got a cool breeze through the house and some absolute ***** has the god awful bonfire going some where in the area. Smells like treated wood is burning too.

I honestly think bonfires should be banned on environmental grounds at the best of times but at the least during a sodding heat wave.

West for all windows door except one :(
One north facing window for Kitchen.
Bathroom would be north but has extractor fan instead.
