It's too hot :(

Around 35mm of rain to fall over the next 3-4 days... Can't wait. Will do the garden a lot of good. Tap water from the sprinkler/hose just isn't quite the same as good 'ol rain.

Set to be 28ºC in Liverpool today, and 25-28ºC for the next week or so :( the insane level of pollen also means having the windows open in the mornings to cool the house down is killing me.

Going to be havoc for asthmatics and hay fever sufferers when it’s stormy. The pollen breaks up into smaller particles. So inhale more and asthmatics the pollen goes further into the lungs.

Called thunder pollen.

Take your meds!

Thinking of getting one of these for the bedroom to tide us over until we get a full split unit.

Should cool the bedroom down nicely.

Are those energy efficient?

Says A reading so can't be terrible, who cares anyway only for the odd night and for an hour or two to cool the room down then switch it off.
Yea ours is hideously loud, the compressor sounds like a rusty old tractor at some points, so it'd be impossible to sleep with. But running it for an hour or two before sleep will really cool the room down. Just a shame we have to sacrifice the en-suite to the exhaust heat :D

From a guy in the review section...

Room cooling capacity: 27 m2
Power consumption cooling: 1.4 kWh
Power consumption heating: 1.2 kWh
Noise rating: 65 dB

so about 45p an hour at July's 30p KWh cap
I ran a 3.5kw one last year for over 50 hours straight when we had that 40c weekend last year, worth every penny.

This is the only issue with the mobile units - have you tried the window exhaust kits? They're not perfect, but better than exhausting inside.
I've considered them but they look a bit of a faff.

We got a 5m foil-lined hose that we run from the back of the unit. It's long enough that it goes through the en-suite, and dangles way out of the window. The only issue is the hose itself is still leaking heat into the room, plus the fact we have to open a window which is letting in the hotter air from outside. I know a window kit might reduce this a bit, but the window will still be open.

I'll be investing in a two-unit split as soon as we can, so we can have the bedroom and computer room cooled silently :D

I'm down to my 10.5tog duvet. It's nice being able to sleep with the window open again.

Jesus wept, I changed to my 4.5 3 weeks ago. Feels like a sheet in comparison to the 10.5

Called thunder pollen.

Oh FFS, what's with adding Thunder to everything these days - "thunder snow", "thunder pollen".... I think I'll go have a Thunder Fart

They are to be fair, but they do seal the entire window opening so long as you get the correct size. We have our unit right next to the window so the heat doesn't have far to travel to the outside.
