It's too hot :(

I’m seriously ****** off with this weather now, it’s absolutely awful. I’ve barely seen a drop of sun in days, and the forecast is awful too. Global warming is a fallacy. There’s nothing warming about this weather at all. And to think the forecasters were predicting records and heatwaves. More proof that they are a total bunch of clueless chancers.

The better term is "climate change". The slow warming of the globe is leading to more extreme weather at either end of the scale, hence it's better to say climate change. That said, it is still the warming of the globe at fault.

That does not represent my neck of the woods at all. Outside of a week in mid June the weather and temperatures here have been more reminiscent of Spring. It's been very blustery too.

Guess when it's finally September I'll look back at that single week of summer fondly because that's all we'll probably be getting. There's becoming less and less redeeming features about this cruddy island.

just back from a week in Spain, was a lovely 35C every day. I hate this cold weather
Same here... but I was cycling up mountains in the heat... which made for an added challenge. I've never drunk so much water!

Kinda grateful to be back in the cool UK.

It really is hot outside here. Whatever chilly weather u lot have it aint here.
It’s 13 Celsius that’s cool, it was 9 this morning. That’s what it is supposed to be in Early spring not July. So it’s cold. Should be mid twenties this time of year and mid teens at night.
Rhodes is currently 35 during the day and low twenties at night and that’s a cool night for there.

Today was 20C and it looks like it is back up to 27C at the end of the week. Quite pleasant. El Niño hasn’t fully formed yet so when that happens it’s going to be ridiculous.

When el nino really gets going there are going to be some shocking world headlines about climate change.

And I mean really shocking. Earth has been warming even with la nina. Which reduces the true effect of warming.

El nino will do the opposite. So now we are going to have el nino + global warming from climate change. Expect big numbers on ice retreats etc.

The whole setup can change as these things switch, depending on the state of other weather systems and/or the consequential effect of other weather systems like the NAO. Currently looks like the switch will phase into our winter but current projections at least for the first half of it seem to be cooler rather than warmer weather, though that could reverse in summers, etc. also other aspects like volcanic eruptions and even large wildfires can offset, or amplify it.

We've had quite a lot of massive events injecting particulates and so on into the atmosphere over the last 1-2 years so will be interesting to see what effect that has.

EDIT: With some of the stuff which has happened over the last couple of years (Hunga Tonga for instance) I'd hazard towards a much more volatile climate with extremes of weather seen more often including unusual weather for a location.

Definitely on the chillier side of things at the moment. Mid layer and trousers have replaced the shorts I've been wearing for the last month. The outlook for the next couple of weeks looks mixed with a few warmer days this weekend.

Just got some proper cellular blackout blinds installed, so I never thought I'd say this as I can't stand the heat, but I'm hoping for a few sunnier days to give them a test. They're certainly good at blacking out if nothing else. Looks like Friday is 26c, so that'll do :)

Went to bed last night, it was 8c but in a couple of days friday will be 18, that's mental. loved these last few days so much being just right, this el nino thing sounds so scary, sounds like it might wipe out people like me, hate the heat so much so if its going to get to regular 40 or 50s in the UK that's me out I think cause it sounds like the end of the world that I want to live in or pack up to live in Iceland.

Love the way there is something that is going to wipe out so many people and countries and will change humanity forever and all our media talk about is cricket or where Willy and Katie are visiting this week.

It’s looking that way the moment so we may see the big temperatures next year. El Niño does usually cause colder winters in the UK.
