It's too hot :(

32°C in the shade here right now and is forecast to be 41°C later this afternoon.

I’ve moved our portable A/C unit into the living room and bodged the exhaust out of the window with a piece of cardboard as the temperature didn’t drop below 25°C overnight, so the house didn’t get a chance to radiate any of yesterday’s heat away and there was no “cool” air when I threw the doors and windows open first thing.
Sounds like hell! No way I could do that.

and heres me with 16 .. thinking of putting heating on ..

That's much nicer. Where are you?

Is getting somewhat uncomfortable even though the temps arent hot hot. Changed 6 pillow cases this week, and slept on 3 different towels due to sweat. However comfort still ok when up and about as long as I have main fan on, so just when sleeping.

Already late August though so am grateful its this late to start getting uncomfortable.

Last few days I've had to resort to towels.

Tonight is gonna be the worst night by far....

If I lived in spain I think would have died from heat exhaustion or something already. Honestly dont know how people tolerate that part of the world.

You adapt. Your body can get used to temperatures. You also change your behaviours to suit. Also your schedule changes to suit the weather conditions.

I've acclimatised a fair bit to the UK but when I go back to the Med within a few of days I'm completely settled back into the weather makes me realise how it never really gets that hot in the UK.

Not been abroad since... I honestly can't remember...? 2008?
Went to Iceland in 2011 but that was the wrong kind of heat to acclimatise to!
France a few years back but that was not Summer.

I'm so well tuned to UK weather, I'm not sure my body would ever readjust now!!!

acclimatized is the word your looking for ... after working in a kitchen most of my life here and abroad .. i feel cold in 25c and do put my lumber jack shirt on yet 30 yrs ago in portugal while they were wearing jumpers in winter i was fine ? if it's 16c in the house in the morning the heating go's on for 10 mins so i can get a shower ..lol :)

Not really the word i was looking for as the distillery isn't always super hot as we have big roller doors in all the units but on a sunny day when the stills are on it gets toasty but its not the default unit we work in, good test for BBC vs met office forecast tomorrow, Friday BBC is sunny am lightning pm, met office light rain am light cloud pm, so pretty opposite

I can't remember a year I wasn't abroad at least twice! :o

Even during COVID we travelled a fair bit.

You live in paradise anyway so you don't need to travel. ;)

Got in from Copenhagen (which was lovely, 23 degrees and sunny) back to Vienna at 9:30pm and it was still 27 degrees here.
It's roasting hot this week in central Europe, I think it was 35 yesterday in Vienna and it should be 31-33 today. I've been wearing shorts to work for weeks!

Same, I travelled to a few countries through Covid as well - I can't remember not being abroad a couple of times a year since.... blimey, maybe 2002/3, something like that?

I've been in Santander this week, which has been hovering up around 30°C. Yesterday, we decided to take a day trip to Bilbao, even though it was due to be warmer than Santander. We figured we'd spend a fair bit of time in the air conditioned car and places we would go in Bilbao would be air conditioned... it was possibly a mistake...

(Granted, this was the highest we saw and probably a little inaccurate, so I took the photo, most of the others were between 41 and 43)

Whilst where we had lunch was cool enough and the museum we went in was cool, even walking just 15 minutes in that heat just sapped your energy. So we ate, we looked round one museum, we went to look at other Googenhiem and then got back in the car and drove home!

Got a few Germans coming over for an event this weekend, boy are they in for a nasty surprise when they get off the boat. :D
