It's too hot :(

You adapt. Your body can get used to temperatures. You also change your behaviours to suit. Also your schedule changes to suit the weather conditions.

I've acclimatised a fair bit to the UK but when I go back to the Med within a few of days I'm completely settled back into the weather makes me realise how it never really gets that hot in the UK.

Some people I guess can adapt to it, I'm defo one that know wouldn't.

If I lived in spain I think would have died from heat exhaustion or something already. Honestly dont know how people tolerate that part of the world.
At the moment there is a heatwave in most of Spain that ends tomorrow, hence the high night temps .

Where I live I would say maybe 20-30 days a year it hits 31c in the day and 20c-25c at night. and the rest of the hot months it's high 20s. Took a couple of years to adjust to that!

BUT when the heatwaves hit (this is the 4th in 2 months) the nights are unbearable for all (locals and foreigners alike!!). During the day you can always awork around the heat, but at night there is no respite apart from AC. Fingers crossed tonight is the last hot one!

.

There is a big article on El Pais saying that there have been 25 days where the Barcelona nighttime min temp was 25c or higher. Ugh.

I'm off to Girona and Barcelona in a few weeks and hoping temps are a lot lower than that when I get there.

Found our yesterday my planned woodland walk near Portbou has been ruined by wildfires. Boo!

Forecasting 41°C here later this afternoon, but 29°C tomorrow and cooling towards rainy low 20s for next week.

I certainly hope so as there’s an equestrian cross-country endurance event nearby at the end of next week which will be cancelled if this heat stays.

Indeed.

I'm too tight to pay ElPais subscription, but yep its been like this for almost a month now! Getting worse every year (for the 10 years I've lived here).

Here they class it as 20c+ at night is "tropical" and 25c is "torrid". Pretty apt descriptions :)

Last night the minimum was 28 in Barcelona. At the moment it's 32c outside and feels like 39 cos of the humidity.

Never been to Portbou but I know that part of Catalonia gets superhot in the summer and is a tinderbox for forest fires! Barcelona will definitely be cooler when you come, Girona hard to say, depending on the exact area. Mid September is agreat time to visit!

Edit: Really early this morning.....

Have you ever lived for a prolonged period of time outside of the UK?

Yes lived in Oz for a year working holiday and it was really hot in the 40s during the day in Sydney but seemed to cool down on nights, don't remember it been hard to sleep and this was without AC, its the humid nights I can't stand cause I struggle sleeping when hot.

Then you must have adapted to it. :)

I'm not denying it's hard to do in the UK as the infrastructure is not ideal for warmer climates.

First day of my week off it wasn't forecast to rain so decided to cut the grass and do some washing. Lasted all of 15 minutes before we had a down pour.

I fully support Euthanasia in the UK if it means we can get rid of anyone who likes this weather in the summer

This is worse than @robfosters wishing people's boilers would break in winter.

Yeah that was a long time ago, I was very different back then in my 20s and it never really bothered me the heat abroad when I was younger, now I'm a moaning grumpy older man its just not for me anymore and anything above 30 is too much, especially if its really humid which it mainly is. Yeah the infrastructure in the UK is awful for hot weather and its not really like the hot weather abroad, certainly not up north when its really hot, its just draining to me. Thankfully the air has changed this afternoon with us and its much more pleasant, looking forward to a decent kip tonight.

Straight Euthanasia might be a little harsh so I'm willing to compromise by putting them on a Saturday night gameshow where they would face off against Thunder, Lightning, Hurricane and Tornado in a battle to the death for their crimes, the show will be called 'The Weather Man'.

well I've done until Tuesday but its not looking ideal, the temps are ok but i am a wuss with thunder storms and it puts me off coastal walking, also the surf forcast is pants, i see we are losing the hosepipe ban in time for winter !
