It's too hot :(

Work is going to be hideous this week. It’s going to be lovely dripping with sweat as I meet a load of our customers for the first time. Really humid today too.
Can't remember where you are, but it's a lot less humid today here than yesterday

I like this thread, two groups of people at the exact opposite of the spectrum of "like and want more heat" and those "hating it too hot and want less heat" and you get these posts from baffled people as to why other people aren't thinking on their exact wave level so it makes for a great read.

I wish the journalists though we accept not all of us like heatwaves, I totally accept all people are different and some love it really hot, yesterday though I read a headline say finally its here just what we've all been waiting for, who are you including in all, you've not asked everyone.

They haven’t asked everyone, but it’s a guarantee that the vast majority of the population are not crazy enough to want a cold dismal summer

Those not looking forward to it are wrong though. Just plain wrong :D

And I just can’t explain how negative it makes me feel. Brings out all the feral kids (and sometimes adults) shouting and screaming, booting footballs against fences every 5 seconds. There’s no escape from the heat as it builds up inside the house even with all the blinds and curtains closed, making sleep impossible. So not only can’t you sleep, you can’t enjoy the waking moments either.

Is there a summer version of SAD? Or is it more of a 'just don't like it and it makes me grumpy' kind of thing? Have you tried air con? Something like that could be quite a simple fix if your can afford the running costs.

As someone else said, at least you only have to put up with it for a few weeks, or even less as with this year. I have months of darkness and depression to drag myself through every winter.

And I bet you don’t come on here and moan about it every five minutes

I have actually made a post earlier in this thread about this: I think I would be much less hateful of the hot weather if I knew I could escape it. It's the fact that it makes sleep very difficult, and it also means basic things like putting on the oven to cook food fills you with dread because it's heating up the house even more.

I have a portable AC unit, but as with all portable units, it's blooming loud!! So I either be uncomfortable and barely sleep, or barely sleep because of the noise. Either way, it means very little sleep, which leads to worsening anxiety and lethargy. My aim is to get a proper split system installed in the house, but to hit the two main rooms will be over £3k, plus running costs and annual maintenance. It's really not cheap!

What do I say to all the haters?

Its a few weeks a year...

I full expect the reverse when it's mid winter gloom and I'm having a moan! :D

I dunno.... :D

But then I find the majority of the year a struggle. October to April is a time I keep my head down and try my hardest to get through each and every year without getting too withdrawn and down. This isn't just a seasonal preference like most people have.

We have one of the worst summer seasons in the world. People who don't like warm weather, or more specifically prolonged summer sunlight have 90%+ of the year their way but apparently this is still an issue. I wish I had it that good!

It sucks we left the EU, there aew far nicer climates for those who like the sun/light/warmth down there.
Italy would be my choice. I expect I'd need to be fluent in Italian though too.

Wish we had free movement

I'm usually fine with our summers. There's usually more than enough sunlight to see me through but this year has been dire. I'm not sure even Italy would be good enough to get me through the winter months. It's why pretty much all my holiday's over the last 2 decades have been during October and May and almost exclusively in Asia. Sadly, due to financial reasons and some worsening health, I haven't taken a holiday since 2018.
