It's too hot :(

Last night I discovered that our old TV, an LG LH3000 iirc, consumes ~200W and it gets very warm when on for a while.

That explains why our lounge gets hotter on days my better half watches tv, it hit 29C yesterday in the lounge and given it's hotter outside today (local stations reporting 31C currently), our lounge is sure to get hotter today!

For comparison, a modern 43" smart TV consumes ~50W.

It's getting hot very early this heatwave so far , 25C+ by 1100, so I've missed the early window of opportunity at sub 20C again today to head out for a ride.

Yesterday I ended up doing my hiit short back to back races on the turbo trainer and what really made a difference was wearing a cold water drenched baselayer, so refreshing, especially in the first two ~10min races. At least if things went wrong at home, I could simply step off the turbo and seek solutions, not so simple if you're outside ~20 miles from home!

Except it does.

Can't wash my cars
Can't paint my fences

Too hot to do any digging or other gardening without feeling exhausted or being sunburnt after 10 mins.
Yeah, I've been to garden centre this morning back for about 11ish. Managed 2-3 hours and that's me done. Rest will wait until tomorrow. Literally drained of energy now. Had my head in a sink full of cold water.

That's interesting. We were relaxing in the lounge yesterday evening watching films on the TV, but it was relatively cool throughout. In fact, it was the coolest room in the house. Now I'm curious how much power our TV consumes.

Though, the lounge is a north facing room, so we don't get any sun in there. I can imagine that helps quite a bit, whereas our garden and kitchen is south facing, so that side heats up very quickly during the day.

We're so glad we opted to get a sofa bed downstairs - it was a cool 17.4°C this morning when we woke up with the bay windows having been open all night long! Upstairs in the bedroom was 24°C which would've only been warmer if we'd been up there!

Went to the allotment just after 6am and watered before the heat built up and I sort of regret doing nearly a 10km run then too but I needed the run.

Not looking forward to too many more days quite this warm but nice that we've at least got an option for the night time that doesn't involve the AC unit humming away all night in the bedroom.

Yesterday morning I mowed the grass and it wasn't too bad. This morning I trimmed the, admittedly a bit over grown, hedge and my arms were not happy with me when I was done, plus I sweated my bits off. Tomorrow the strimmer comes out.

If we ever get control of the weather, summer should be 22c every day with it raining at night.

1st of the hot ones so did some garden stuff and a tip run early,. luckily recycling centre is a mile or.so from Tintagel , 24 c in living room now so not too bad

Been looking at the Dreo unit for the OH that shows an open window, but tbh I'd punch a hole through the wall for it.
This is what I am thinking I am going to have to do, every summer same issue, but using window isnt practical, its about 2/3 up the wall and would let cooled air escape.
