Ive gone and done it...

On the vRS the CAT isn't just a couple of bolts too remove like on most cars I've had but more part of the actual system, so that's why most owners choose the middle ground 100cell as it doesn't seem to hinder performance.
What is the 'cell' rating of the standard CAT? Is this something that needs to be changed, or something that you specify as part of the exhaust?

The CAI do cost a fair bit more than the normal filters, but it was only around 10% of my overall budget for mods so I preferred having the colder air and the extra noise, as I was used to driving a modded ITR before the vRS :p . And it's carbon fibre for bling!
Is the extra noise something that only kicks in under hard acceleration? Or is it always like it? I like the idea of something mild-mannered when driving around town, but comes alive when driving hard.

Fuel ecomony does actually get better if you use the car in the same manner, but of course with the boost at full I do tend to drive the car harder and of course that will see diminished result, but it would get the same MPG driving hard at low boost.

Currently 95mph on gps is about 4000rpm. Does the extra power mean that the engine doesn't need to rev as high to produce the same speeds? If so, is this ow the fuel ecomony is increased?

A lot of people have smoother maps than mine at about 220/220, and take the CAI away the car is fairly quite, and as said before the car have recirc dump valves so they are very quite, the atmospheric ones aren't ment for the 1.8t engine by default and they cause all kind of havoc when fitted.
:eek:What kind of havoc? I thought someone said the DV30 was an atmospheric one? Is the DV swap not a good idea then?

Drivibilty on mine at full boost is a little aggressive, but that more to do with the roads getting wet now, and a good set of tyres make a world of a difference. A fair few tuners will be more than happy to map for your style of driving so thats a great bonus.

How do you mean aggressive? How is the stock engine different from the LCR/S3? What is a TIP?

With a CIA the car is always nosier, but its more defined higher up the rev range or when flooring it. You can normally drive around town without it being overly loud, so you can have quiet driving :)

Extra power doesn't mean more speed for the same RPM. The RPM is how fast the engine is rotating, the rotating engine is then put through a gear to give your wheel speed. This is mechanical and can't be changed without a new gearbox.

Getting it mapped normally means the jump in torque is larger and thus more of an aggressive kick. The 1.8T engine makes torque very low down so getting this boosted means you will be kicked in the bum over and over again :)

How much louder is a Carbonio as I've been thinking about it for my Leon Cupra etc. The cupra has Revo and Milltek resonated exhaust at the mo. All subtle, no chave or bling etc.

I am looking for a set of LCR wheels in the new year :D

Ah right, sorry can't see the original pic anymore.

Nice, I really like the Leon Cupra. Although doesn't it have the k04 turbo / stronger internals?

Yes but I'm a believer in using the search facility rather than starting yet more threads ;)

Lessons from seatcupra.net

Mine is a K03s turbo as it's just a normal cupra
